ut-AAUP Bulletin

"by and for the bargaining units but open to all"

Issue #59

JAKE, GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER

Don Wedding & Walt Olson, UT-AAUP Executive Board

This is to supplement yesterday's UT-AAUP parking newsletter.  The Jacobs Administration can not get its act together even on its own new parking system. The UT- AAUP Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) including Article 14.6 is the effective agreement between UT-AAUP and the UT BOT. Parking privileges are set under the CBA at $56 dollars per year. The Jacobs parking application online is requiring UT-AAUP members to agree to pay $58. In addition there is a secondary parking contract that UT-AAUP faculty members must agree to before completing the online application.  This is also in violation of the CBA.  UT-AAUP members should not sign or agree to any agreement independent of the CBA including parking as this violates the CBA and representation under law by the UT-AAUP.  However, as a practical matter some members will sign in order to park. The UT-AAUP is filing a grievance challenging the above to invalidate the proposed parking agreement.

14.6 PARKING
The Employer will provide members with optional on campus parking privileges. The charge for this privilege shall be $56.00 per year which may be paid via payroll deduction.
