Jake's New Organization Announced

Don Wedding, UT AAUP Executive Board

Dr. Lloyd Jacobs also fondly known as Jake has announced his new organization at the top. Dr. Dan Johnson former UT President is returning from Dubai for another round of feeding at the UT public trough. He will be Director of Global Initiatives. He will join other former UT officials including Ex Provost Alan Goodridge who returned earlier at a UT salary above $200,000 after a tour in Saudi Arabia. All of these new appointments and assignments will be followed later this summer with another round of salary increases and bonuses. In addition outgoing BOT Chair Bill Fall is negotiating a new three year contract extension for Jake.  All of this will be done while many faculty and students are gone for the summer. Many lower level UT employees are being terminated - some with decades of service and only a year or two short of retirements. Meanwhile life at the top of the UT food chain goes on & on with a rich diet of large salaries, big bonuses, 403b retirement  contributions, credit card perks, and lots of travel - all paid for by students and Ohio taxpayers. Governor Kasich where are you?

Subject: New Organizational Structure

I wish to propose certain changes in the Organizational Structure, largely confined to the administrative functions of The University of Toledo.

Dr. McMillen has been appointed permanent Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs.

Mr. Dabney has been appointed as CFO and VP for Finance.

Dr. Frank Calzonetti will assume the position of Vice President for Government Relations.  Diane Miller will move with him to that office.

Dr. James Trempe will be designated Vice President for Research.  Elsa Nadler will be reassigned to that office.

Mr. Chuck Lehnert will be designated Vice President for Administration.  Facilities, Constructions and Maintenance will report to an as yet unnamed Associate Vice President who will report to Chuck.   Business Development, Tech Transfer and Incubation functions, and UTIE support staff will report to Mary Jo Waldock, who will report to Chuck.  Rick Stansley will continue in his current role as an independent contractor with significant responsibilities in this arena.

Campus Safety, and UT Police will report to Chuck beginning July 1, 2011.

Kaye Patten Wallace's title will change from Vice President for Student Affairs to Vice President for the Student Experience.  She will be empowered to intervene and participate in decisions in every non-faculty point of contact where the institution interacts with students.

Dr. Dan Johnson will be designated as Director of Global Initiatives.  A more complete description of this role will be forthcoming.

Should there be any questions, do not hesitate to raise them.  Thanks for your support of these dedicated leaders in these changed roles.   lj
