Independent Collegian Takes Aim at Administrative Bonuses

The UT-AAUP article published in our newsletter of August 25, 2009 (see issue) reported administrator longevity bonuses of $581,807. However, the actual longevity bonuses have totaled over $1.5 million.

Bonuses backfire
The recent decisions of two top University of Toledo administrators to leave UT, first of Main Campus Provost Rosemary Haggett and then Mark Chastang, vice president and executive director of the University of Toledo Medical Center, raise serious doubts about longevity bonuses being given to UT administrators, ostensibly to promote better performance and entice them to pursue a long career with UT.
