Can We Afford the Best Administration that Money Can Buy?

Table I below shows a 22.59% increase in the base salaries of 14 high-level University of Toledo (UT) administrators for the period 2006-2009. This data is reported without fringe benefits or bonuses. The previously reported $1.5 million in bonuses for 2006-2009 is not included. There are many more administrators receiving substantial pay increases and bonuses who are not included in the table.

The high growth rate in base salaries exists for a large number of UT administrative positions that could be added to Table I. However, because the Jacobs Administration has changed job titles for many positions and has added (unspecified) duties, such positions have not been included. Likewise, it may be argued that some positions such as the President involve increased duties because of the merger. Table II below shows a sample of such positions including the President.

The fact remains there has been massive administrative salary growth at a time when the University is struggling to maintain its financial stability.

The information for this table was gathered from the Blue Books of 2006 and the "Web Report Library" available by following the link at

Information regarding positions at the former Medical University of Ohio was collected from the Human Resources Office.
