Who Needs a Runway?

Take Off From Where You Are!

 Flygirl

Join us for our February 17 Workshop!

Crowne Plaza Williamsburg At Fort Magruder, Williamsburg

Known simply as FlyGirl, Vernice "FlyGirl" Armour went from beat cop to combat pilot in 3 years. Within months of earning her wings, she found herself flying over the deserts of Iraq supporting the men and women on the ground. After serving two tours overseas, she had become America's First African American Female Combat Pilot. After returning home, she realized that many people wanted to create breakthroughs in their own lives, they just didn't know how.

From her experiences, she created a 7-step process called the Zero to Breakthrough™ Success Plan. She now travels extensively sharing this message through her keynotes, coaching and seminars. She is your battle-tested speaker and ignites audiences with a dynamic spark that can't be extinguished.

Hurry and register - early bird registration ends February 10!

What a Difference NSA National Membership Makes!

Submitted by Mary Foley

What difference does it make to achieve NSA national membership? Let's ask a few of our own NSA VA members who are also national members to find out!

"Increased the level of respect I receive from clients." - Ron Chapman, Learning & Performance Development Expert

Being a national NSA member has increased the level of respect I receive from clients.  As a consultant on training, having the NSA membership shows my clients and prospects that I possess more than the technical skills surrounding training. They also feel confident that I will be able to present myself well in front of any group in their organization.

I've also noticed that it has become easier to present at state and regional conferences.  Several have specifically mentioned that they were impressed that by the NSA credential and that is why they hired me for the event.  There are numerous industry speakers with the technical information.  There are very few who can present it in an engaging way.

ProTrack Report

By Ron Chapman, CPLP

At our January meeting, the ProTrack class heard a great presentation by Rick Ott (www.rickott.com) on "Fee Strategy - Turning Value into Revenue." Rick is a senior member of the chapter who has been speaking successfully (that means profitably) to associations around the country for many years.

Rick covered two types of speakers (the entertainer and the summary analyst) and what value they offer the client. He then made a clear distinction between the actual value and the perceived value. It is the perceived value that drives up your desirability and therefore your ability to set higher fees.

My Dear Speaking Business...

(a.k.a. Wizard Workforce Development Inc.)

By Gloria Thomas

On this Valentine's Day, I want to share with you the many reasons that I am grateful you came into my life.

No matter what I encounter on my Yellow Brick Road, you show me how to apply it to our relationship. You ignite each moment in a way that alerts me to search for hidden treasures.

There is always something new to learn. Tragedies and challenges become stories, boring speakers teach what NOT to do, family gatherings become laboratories for communication experiments, and any downtime provides an opportunity to read, write or ponder.

Tools of the Trade

Create a word cloud - You can cut and paste text into this tool (tagcrowd.com) and out pops a "word cloud" that enlarges the words used most frequently. Use it on the home page of your website to make sure that the keywords people would search are the words you want to be known by and are represented with enough frequency. Beware, it's addicting!

Social media updating tool - On its website it claims "The Most Powerful Social Syndication Tool Anywhere". Save time and update your social media all at once. You can even schedule updates in advance ... and it's no charge! www.dlvr.it
