Hello NSA Virginia!
This is the time of year for setting goals and resolutions, and your Board has been hard at work doing the same. We are committed to fostering individual relationships and networking opportunities; to maintaining a fiscally sound organization; and to providing you with the highest quality experience at each monthly workshop. The first way we're doing this is by resuming the third Friday schedule. The last few months were out of sync, but if you check the website, the dates and locations are in place. The next crucial piece is ensuring a quality program. This includes the venue, and the Board continues to seek the best sites in Richmond, Williamsburg, and Norfolk to hold meetings. The Richmond Airport Doubletree is a hands-down winner, and as we search the other cities, please be patient and check the address before you hit the road. The other piece of quality programming is the presenter. And the next few months are "off-the-chain" as my friend Shirley T. Burke would say. January's Scott Halford gets rave reviews on his chapter presentations, and February's Vernice Armour has been on Oprah if that tells you anything. I encourage you to check the National website where you can find links to each speaker's sample videos. Meanwhile, we can't wait to see you at our January meeting!

| Get Them Hooked to Get You Booked!
Why is it that some speakers and trainers hit a homerun nearly every time they speak? The answer isn't as apparent as you might think. If you want to find out the answer to that rather complex question, come listen as Scott Halford, CSP, from Denver, Colorado dopes up your dopamine (your learning, reward and pleasure brain hormone), and helps you understand how the human brain responds to certain teaching stimuli, messages and message framing.
Scott is an expert in neuro-behaviorism, including emotional intelligence and critical thinking. He works globally with the largest corporations in the world teaching executives about the bottom line benefits they achieve when they understand the intricacies of human interaction. Scott's natural, humorous and insightful style will get your brain popping as it wakes up to all of the possibilities you have to create a brain enthralling program. According to Scott, if you have their brains, you have them hooked. If you have them hooked - you will get booked.

Monetize Your Message in 2012 at the NSA Winter Conference
Submitted by Mary Foley
The simple truth is that it's become increasingly difficult to make real money if you're just a keynoter, or just a coach or just a trainer. What's needed today is an integrated business-a business that incorporates several income streams. That's why the 2012 NSA Winter Conference this February 3-5, 2012, in Dallas/Plano is all about showing you several ways to "Monetize Your Message."
The entire conference is designed to help you build a well-rounded practice-one that can withstand economic ups and downs. When you leave this conference, you will know-specifically-how to turn your expertise into systems, products and services that will add to your bottom line...and peace of mind!
What can you expect when you make the investment to attend the Winter Conference?

| An Old Speaker's New Year's Resolutions
I'm not a great believer in New Year's resolutions, but I am a huge believer in accountability.
When you've been through as many jobs, bosses, performance reviews, psychological assessments, business blunders and stretch assignments as I have, you get to know yourself pretty well. And one thing I've learned is that when I tell someone that I'm going to do something; I either do it or fail spectacularly trying.
So when Joan Bowling asked me to write something on speaker resolutions, I had to be careful. Because what I say here is what will happen, not by magic but by the hard choices and sweat equity it will take to make it so and because I told you I would. Thank you for holding me accountable to these, but more importantly, please consider your own goals as this significant time of year and how NSA Virginia can support you in achieving them for yourself.
