What Is The Value of NSA Membership?

Lunch Changes at Chapter Meetings

For the remainder of this NSA year (now through June 2011), lunch will no longer be available at chapter meetings, except for ProTrack members. For many years, Members, Affiliates and Guests have been able to choose an optional lunch at each chapter meeting, but that alternative has changed.

Starting with the November meeting, lunch will only be available for ProTrack members (who have already paid for this as part of their ProTrack fee), and it will be a time period used for this group to transition from the morning event to their afternoon learning session. It will include elements related to their class assignments and move them efficiently into the ProTrack classroom. Not only is this a benefit to the ProTrack learning process, it streamlines meeting logistics in several ways.

Breakfast will still be included in the morning program registration fees, and those wishing to enjoy lunch on meeting days with other chapter members (other than current ProTrackers) will be given a list of local dining choices and encouraged to meet at those establishments and "split the tab" on their own.

Feature Article

Now more than ever, you're not alone if you are asking questions about how you spend your time and money.
"Is it worth it to me?"  "What am I getting for my time/money spent?" "Is this important to me now?"  We hope you're asking that about NSA, too.

What is the Value of NSA Membership?

By Liz Garrett, CWC

It was suggested I write an article on Why Become An NSA Member that doesn't stop with "...because you save money attending the National Conference... ."

So I started asking around.

Tom Davidson told me, "If I weren't an NSA member, I would be missing out on the larger scale.  I want to be a bigger player, a better speaker."

Yeah, that makes sense.

David Newman, our October speaker, explained that his NSA membership gives him credibility.

It lets people know, "I am pursuing this on a National level."  It also gives him connections - peer to peer respect and access to peers.  It lets him know who his competition is--both to learn from them, beat them, and refer them.

Good, solid strategy, I think.

Cathy Lewis, looking me straight in eyes and speaking my language said, "It is to OWN IT."  Owning it; I get that.  It's about going to the next level, inside and out.

How long can one be an "emerging speaker?" NSA Membership recognizes that you ARE a Speaker.

One final point. Reading a completely unrelated book, the author mentioned her NSA membership and access (and relevant story) it gave her to another speaker that helped her complete and sell the book I was reading.  Coincidence?  Never.

For 2011,  I'm setting my goal--are you?

Maybe I'll even see you at the National conference.
