JUNE PROGRAM:
___________

YouTube and Business Building

Presented by: Darren LaCroix
___________

dlacroix Darren LaCroix is back!

This year, due to popular request, Darren will be spending the morning program showing how to use YouTube and other cutting edge strategies to build or further enhance a speaking business.

In the afternoon, he will be a judge for the Virginia Idol Contest, featuring our latest Pro Track graduates. He will give speaking tips and pointers on what went well and what improvements could enhance the talks. This presents so much opportunity to learn and grow, even as observers!

If you haven't yet met Darren, here's why you'll really want to:

In 2001, Darren LaCroix, the World Champion of Public Speaking, outspoke 25,000 contestants from 14 countries to win that title. That was just a benchmark. Since that victory, Darren has traveled the world demystifying the process of creating a powerful speech. He has roused audiences with his inspirational journey from first-rate chump to first-class champ, proving anything is possible if you are willing to work for it.

As a keynote speaker since 1994, he brings his incredible story to conferences around the world. He changes the way people think about challenges, humor, and presentations... forever. His clients include IBM, Fidelity investments, and numerous associations too long to list!

He is known as the person who helps speakers launch their careers in professional speaking. His trademarked program Get Paid to Speak by Next Week has helped many speakers launch their very first checks. He also supports speakers by doing business coaching through his internet program: Get Paid to Speak TV.

Now Darren is in high demand as a speaker coach. The new standard for advanced presentation skills was created when he co-created How Professional Presenters Can Own the Stage. There is no other program on the market that even comes close to this transformational program. Viewers witness exactly how coaches can create lasting significant improvement in just two days.

His successful book, Laugh & Get Rich: How to Profit from Humor in Any Business (6th printing), contains interviews with corporate executives who share his philosophy. Now translated into three languages, it is a mainstay on business bookshelves.

As co-founder of The Humor Institute and a co-creator of The Humor Boot Camp, Darren directs seminars that help presenters wisely use the power of humor to "lighten up" their presentations.  He is also an award-winning producer, his film Healing, Hope, and Humor.

And Now A Word From Your President...

Wow, what a year!

As our NSA Virginia chapter year draws to a close, my thanks to all who made the year so successful - and my special thanks to our Board who worked hard in delivering notable and innovative chapter success. Here are some examples:

Most importantly, a great series of strong programs featuring national-level speakers and topics key to our members' success, not the least of which were speaking eloquence with Fripp, using humor with Mikki Williams and the latest in effective marketing with Ford Saeks and David Nour.
Completed our third ProTrack year, with nine graduates ready to take the next step in their professional careers - thanks to Sandy Dumont.  Notable that over the three years, ten ProTrack grads have qualified for NSA National membership!
Participated in two trade shows, showcasing our members to help grow their businesses - thanks to Ron Chapman and Tom Davidson.
Sustained chapter membership levels and involvement in spite of the economic slowdown - thanks to Mary Lee Hardcastle.
Greatly enhanced and grew our communications, visibility and web presence,  with this newsletter, chapter blog and strong social media web presence - thanks to Lois Gallo, Nhat Pham and Susie Galvez.
Maintained a strong financial base for the chapter, and now contribute regularly to the NSA Foundation which helps NSA members in need - thanks to Gloria Thomas for keeping this 'present' as a priority for us.
And finally a very special thanks to our executive director, Jean Austin, who keeps everything running smoothly for the chapter.

In closing, I thank all who attended and participated throughout the year, for it is you who have made this past year so personally fulfilling and satisfying.  I look forward to working closely with everyone next year, as I will be 'Dean Dorothy' heading up 2009-2010 ProTrack.

Once we wrap up the Virgina Idol Contest with Darren LaCroix's visit this month, we'll take a short break.

Have a great summer, and I hope to see you all at the kickoff meeting in August, when we will welcome the NSA National President, Phil Van Hooser.
