MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT -

NSA rocks is our theme for the year. It also offers thrills by the minute, as evidenced by our August meeting. Mark LeBlanc didn't make it - he was stuck in the Philadelphia airport for more than 24 hours. At 6:30am on the day of the meeting, it became evident that he wouldn't make his morning flight. I called Lee Milteer at  6:45 am and asked her if she could fill in. She is a dear friend and a pro, and she said, Yes!  She gave us an awesome presentation and shared much of what she has learned in more than 25 years as a speaking professional.

This month, we have world-renowned speaker and publishing guru Dan Poynter, and it's your chance to get inspired and get informed so you can get that book out! It's going to be a sell-out event, because Dan has sent people to us from far and wide. You'll find out why when you hear him! And you can join Dan for dinner the evening before if you call me (757-627-6669).

Would you like meeting planners to call you, rather than the other way around?

Would you like MORE exposure, MORE credibility and MORE speaking opportunities?

Would you like to know how to turn your book into a profit center?

COME HEAR THE EXPERT!

M

eeting planners want to hire the expert-the most knowledgeable person on the subject. The expert is the author of the book. Your book will bring you more exposure, more credibility and more speaking opportunities. And, a book provides you with an additional profit center (some speakers actually make more money on their back-of-the-room sales than on speaking.)

Dan Poynter's afternoon Free Bonus Session from 1pm to 2pm.

DON'T GO THERE: Lessons Learned While Speaking Professionally. It is unfortunate when a speaker makes a mistake but it is tragic when he or she does not learn from the occasion and blunders again. Dan shares stories of speaking professionally; each is a lesson learned. Some events encouraged him to perform the same way another time but others warned him not to go there again.

After each story, he encourages questions and contributions from the audience. This program is about you and what you do. Learn so you will not embarrass yourself in front of your audience. Fascinating and fun. 60 minutes. Audience participation; Best for smaller audiences.

Dan Poynter is an author of more than 120 books, has been a publisher since 1969 and is a Certified Speaking Professional (CSP). He is an evangelist for books, an ombudsman for authors, an advocate for publishers and the godfather to thousands of successfully-published books. His seminars have been featured on CNN, his books have been pictured in The Wall Street Journal and his story has been told in US News & World Report. The media come to Dan because he is the leading authority on book publishing.
