LAST THINGS FIRST...

With the amazing help of IMG Artists, we are beginning to book our first tour ('09/10)! The creation of new works and the building of our expanding profile are thrilling realities that we take on with great pride and energy.
Being a young arts organization takes perseverence and support. First and foremost, we are dependent on our friends to keep our dancers in the studio and soon, on the road!!!
We need your help. Whether it's $5 or $5000, every penny donated to dre.dance is tax deductible and literally life-giving to our enthusiastic team.

beyond.words

If we've been friends for a while, you've read or heard us talk about, or seen excerpts of, our evening-length work, beyond.words. The time has come for it's first unveiling!
In a collaborative version between dre.dance and Wichita State University's dance students (and faculty), we proudly offer a first look at this piece, September 20, 2008, on the WSU campus.
We've been hard at work on this piece which centers on the autistic spectrum for over a year. In that time, we've delved into research, conducted movement workshops with autistic children (see the amazing Heartspring school in Wichita), and spoken with affected parents and individuals that have engaged us in emotional dialogue and challenging debate about this topical work. Through this dialogue our own perspective has definitely grown.
beyond.words has been created through generous residencies at Wichita State University, Joyce SoHo and next, TriBeCa Performing Arts Center where the piece will premiere in April '09 before being toured around the world! We're so excited to bring this work to you and to engage in a dialogue that we know will bring still-needed awareness.

 We figured one evening-length work wasn't enough for this fall, so here's another!
the people combines composer Rob Reddy's unique and stirring sound with
dre.dance's propulsive and emotional choreography. The interpretive
narrative work weaves text through choreography and live compositions
to illuminate issues of social poignancy and opportune consideration. We think you'll find this piece especially relevant just weeks before the upcoming, all-important presidential election!
the people is being created through a residency at TriBeCa Performing Arts Center where it will be presented (a first for a residency artist at TPAC) October 9-11, 2008. Ticket info coming soon. Click here!
