in addition, the wichita state students are touring the piece throughout the midwest and next spring in taiwan!
the response to this new piece, which focuses on autism and features groundbreaking music by rising star, nico muhly, has been incredible.
we've experienced exciting dialogue, emotional and enthusiastic support from affected families,
educators, artists and advocacy groups. one such group that will continue to play a part in the
building of this work is heartspring. they've been amazing! for info on this wonderful organization,

joyce soho artist-in-residence
this coveted residency was awarded to further develop dre.dance's new work in progress.
andrew and taye describe the project, saying;
"beyond.words
dives into the world of autism with both wonder and sympathy. with
movement that combines dre.dance's propulsive choreography and
interpretive actions gleaned from 'typical spectrum behavior', we
passionately attempt to give voice to these 'multi-sensory'
individuals. inspired by first person accounts of people on 'the
spectrum', beyond.words challenges common misconceptions that
the 'afflicted' want and need to be cured, and hopes to shed light on
the beauty and spirit of these 'inherently gentle, exquisitely
sensitive' beings".
