Thank You Rain Gods
Our month of October has been one of abundance as the big clouds in the sky have finally heard our call. This desert that we call California has been overdue for some much needed rain. Thank you~
This month has been a time of reflection. The past year has been one of transition, of starting over and of endings. Many of you know me as a yoga teacher and friend. Some of you know me as my alter ego, the "day-lighting" waitress. For the past 9 months I have been waiting tables very early in the morning during the hours that I am not teaching. Coming back to this has been hard, challenging and eye opening. It has taught me many lessons of what is happening right here in California. Our work ethics and our sense of entitlement. It has humbled me and brought me back to our basic foundation of support for one another, in any job. Tomorrow is my last day there as I feel it's time to let go, but I will miss my many teachers there, customers and co-workers alike.
This month has also seen an increase in the power of amazing women I am surrounded and supported by daily. For this I am grateful. Maybe it's that it happens to be a month mostly dedicated to women but it could just be coincidence. Either way, I'll gratefully accept it. I have been supported by life long friends who know me sometimes better that myself and remind me of my ability to hold space for many things at once. These women are here to remind us that we are not going through this life alone. We are a TRIBE! We are a celebration of what it is to be a woman. We hold each other whether we agree with our many differing points of view because we are in this together. We laugh together, we cry (out loud), we give our advice, and we listen with the best intentions. That's what we do. This is who we are.
This past weekend I was able to participate in an organization that yet again supports women. Maria Shriver helped develop and put together "The Modern House Call for Women". This was a full weekend of women and men supporting women. Free health care, dental care, yoga, and even makeovers were given. I was grateful to have been a part in teaching the yoga portion and felt lucky to be there in this supportive environment.
