| FALL DANCE CONCERT THIS WEEK |
Enjoy an extraordinary evening of innovative contemporary and classical dance presented by dance faculty, students, and featuring the choreography of guest artist Katie Elliott, co-artistic director of 3rd Law Dance/Theatre. Lighting design by senior theatre major, Bryan Nyedgger. Guest artist Katie Elliott, of 3rd Law Dance/Theatre in Boulder, brings two pieces originally choreographed for her company to the CSU Dance Concert. Chair(s) is an excerpt from a full concert entitled Bread & Salt, performed to the folk music of The Odessa Balalaikas. Winter, with video by Elliott's husband and co-artistic director Jim LaVita, and performed to a classical work by UK composer Malcolm Lindsay, completes the guest's program offerings. As guest artist, Elliott teaches masterclasses and resets choreography, providing CSU students the opportunity to perform her professional repertoire. With subject matter ranging from social commentary to relationship emotions, the evening-length pieces make wonderful use of props, scenic elements and video projection. "The work is very intriguing for audiences to watch," said Jane Slusarski-Harris, co-director of the Division of Dance and Theatre at CSU. Read more.
