| THE MAGIC FLUTE OPENS FRIDAY |
CSU Opera Theatre presents Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's final operatic masterpiece, Die Zauberflote (The Magic Flute).
Join us for four performances of The Magic Flute, which has enchanted young and old alike for over two centuries. The production is the CSU Opera Theatre directorial debut of CSU Opera Director and former Metropolitan Opera baritone, David Malis, and is conducted by CSU maestro, Wes Kenney.
The beautiful, magical, and often nonsensical fairy tale The Magic Flute premiered in Vienna to a sold-out house on September 30, 1791, just two months before Mozart's death. The opera enjoyed immediate success and lifted the spirits of the ill composer. It is written in the popular German Singspiel format and the CSU Opera Theatre production features songs in German with English dialogue. Read more.

| SPECIAL OPERA GUEST JOY DAVIDSON, MEZZO-SOPRANO |
Colorado State University School of the Arts welcomes internationally acclaimed mezzo-soprano Joy Davidson for one Fort Collins performance only of Maria: The Life and Loves of Maria Callas.
The performance is presented in collaboration with Opera Fort Collins (OFC), sponsored in-part by the Griffin Foundation, and is a fundraiser for the OFC Apprentice Artist Program at CSU.
The acclaimed play features Fort Collins native Joy Davidson as one of the most controversial operatic figures of our time. A woman of incredible contrasts: revered and reviled; glorified and pitied; powerful and helpless; explosive and vulnerable. All of this, and so much more, constituted the persona of the tempestuous prima donna the world knew as Maria Callas. Davidson has also appeared as Ms. Callas in Master Class and has performed with the Metropolitan Opera, La Scala Milano, New York City Opera and many others.
Her performance at Colorado State University will be followed by a question-and-answer session. Read more.
