This special edition of the School of the Arts e-newsletter is dedicated to the visual arts. There are several highly anticipated events coming up, starting with Wednesday night's 16th Colorado International Invitational Poster Exhibition Honor Laureate Lecture with Iranian graphic designer, Majid Abbasi. 
 
Read below for all the details and the complete poster show schedule, including the opening reception and poster sale this Friday, October 2nd in the University Art Museum. 
 
Also, be sure to reserve your free ticket to the upcoming Christo and Jeanne-Claude Visiting Artists' Lecture. Tickets for the October 15th lecture are available at www.csutix.com starting Thursday, October 1st.

16th INTERNATIONAL INVITATIONAL POSTER EXHIBITION OPENS FRIDAY
16TH CIIPE16th Colorado International Invitational Poster Exhibition (CIIPE) highlights excellence in poster design from leading and emerging graphic designers from around the globe. Now in its 30th year the exhibition will be featured, for the first time, in one venue at the University Art Museum.
 
Featuring works of 82 artists from 28 countries, the 16th Colorado International Invitational Poster Exhibition - or CIIPE - exhibits and interprets poster design, showcases examples of visual communication to an American audience, and promotes international understanding and dialogue through the graphic arts.
 
A full color catalogue of the exhibition will be available and works in the exhibition will be for sale on a first come first serve basis.

The 16th biennial Colorado International Invitational Poster Exhibit was made possible, in part, through a grant from the Lilla B. Morgan Memorial Fund, which was established to enhance the cultural development and atmosphere of Colorado State. Other supporters include Fort Fund and the Colorado Council on the Arts.
HONOR LAUREATE MAJID ABBASI - LECTURE AND EXHIBITION

Majid Abbasi - The Originality & Graphic Design Today
 
Each biennial year the exhibition features an artist whose lifework is marked by excellence in poster design with a solo exhibition and public lecture. Majid Abbasi's work will be highlighted at the Curfman Gallery in the Lory Student Center. Abbasi is the CIIPE's first laureate from Iran, a country that is experiencing a blossoming of contemporary graphic design. In this visiting artist lecture the artist will introduce his own work and the work of other contemporary Iranian designers. Read more.

SATELLITE EXHIBITIONS
MehdiTen posters displays, representing unique historical and geographical subjects, will be on display in seven satellite galleries as a part of the 16th biennial Colorado International Poster Exhibition hosted by the Department of Art in the School of the Arts at Colorado State University. CHRISTO AND JEANNE-CLAUDE LECTURE
Over the RiverInternationally renowned artists Christo and Jeanne-Claude are best known for their large-scale works of art, including Valley Curtain, Grand Hogback, Rifle, Colorado, 1970-1972; Running Fence, Sonoma and Marin Counties,
California, 1972-1976; The Pont Neuf Wrapped, Paris, 1975-1985; and The Gates, Central Park, New York City, 1979-2005
among many others.
 
The artists are presenting this program as a gift to CSU. The program is sponsored by the FUNd at Colorado State University and the Department of Art and is part of the Critic and Artists Residency Series started at CSU in 1997.
