SPRING SENIOR DANCE SHOWCASE
Senior Dance ShowcaseThe CSU Dance Program Presents The Annual Spring Senior Dance Showcase, Levels of Perception, highlighting the choreographic and performance talents of Colorado State University Dance majors Mary Wilson, Karleen Hughes, and Mallory Buffer.

The dance majors invite audiences to experience their own perception of dance during this collaborative event involving a number of dancers, designers, and technicians, creating an outstanding and original dance showcase. As a graduation requirement, they each choreographed a group piece and a solo performance. The presentation represents the training and education these dancers have received at Colorado State.

FREE PRESENTATION of SONDHEIM'S "A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC"
A Little Night MusicJoin CSU Opera Theatre for a special presentation of A Little Night Music, the 1973 Tony Award-Winner for Best Musical.

Based on the Ingmar Bergman film Smiles of a Summer Night, Stephen Sondheim's intricate, romantic tale features a beautiful score, written almost entirely in waltz time, including the classic song Send in the Clowns.

A Little Night Music has been described as "an invitation to a past era of elegance and enchantment at the turn-of-the-century where love, laughter, and music float through the air on evening breezes in a land where the sun never sets."

Offsetting the romance are situations of human drama where relationships are examined through perceptions of societal status. Once characterized by Sondheim as "whipped cream and knives" the tension of multiple scandals and heartbreak is broken by witty one-liners and comedic interplay.

NIGHT MUSIC CAST COMMENTS
Janet Morrow King, CSU Faculty
Performing the role of Madame Armfeldt, the grandmother, is CSU Vocal Coordinator Janet Morrow King, who will retire in May after 24 years at CSU. "It has been a real honor and pleasure, both for me and for the students, to have the opportunity to work with Janet Morrow King on this show - her Madame Armfeldt is full of dry wit and sass!" says director Tiffany Blake.

Mary Beth EversoleSays graduate student Mary Beth Eversole, who plays the role of the Countess, "It's the most decently indecent fun I've ever had." "Yet," she adds, "A Little Night Music cries out for us to recognize that life is fleeting...make something of yourself...don't throw yourself away."
