CSU THEATRE PRESENTS EURYDICE
EurydiceEurydice, by Sarah Ruhl and directed by Kaily Anderson, is a modern reworking of the Greek myth by the same name.

In the original myth, while mourning the death of his wife Eurydice, Orpheus plays such beautiful music that he receives permission from the Gods to go to the underworld and bring her back.

A magic, whimsical story - a world of talking stones, raining elevators, and rooms made out of string, Eurydice is a play about what it is to love, to lose, and to find oneself along the way. Hardly new themes, Ruhl's open and honest approach to the work enlivens the tale, bringing truth and evoking pathos for the story's characters.

"The first time I read the play, I was moved in an inexplicable way," remarks Anderson. "Ruhl has taken the original myth from Ovid's Metamorphosis and used it as a base point for her own quirky and wonderful story - I was quite taken with it."

MARCHING BAND RECEIVES TOP HONORS FOR EXCELLENCE!
Marching BandThe Colorado State University Marching Band will be honored for contributions of excellence and creativity to the marching profession at the national conference for the College Band Directors National Association at the end of March.

This is the first national recognition that the marching band has received in the history of the program. Dr. Steven Moore, Director of Bands, will present a video of the band's 2008 performance, "Vegas Show," at a recognition session for the CBDNA National Conference at the University of Texas at Austin. The video will be featured as one of five videos from select institutions, which include the University of Arizona, University of California - Los Angeles, Texas Christian University, and Western Carolina University.

Hundreds of university marching band programs from all college football conferences were eligible for the recognition. A video submitted to the CBDNA was chosen over submissions from conferences known for marching bands, such as the SEC, Big 10, and ACC.

Mike Wenzel"CSU has finally developed as a leading marching band in college football," said senior Mike Wenzel, a drum major for the band.

The CSU Marching Band performed its final production of the "Vegas Show" before a national audience in December 2008 at the New Mexico Bowl in Albuquerque, where Colorado State defeated Fresno State for the title. The "Vegas Show" included selections from Cirque de Soleil as well as the songs "Luck Be A Lady" and "Can't Buy Me Love."

"The fundamentals of music and motion required to create a quality marching band demand intense dedication and commitment to excellence throughout the entire marching season," says Dr. Moore.
