| ORCHESTRA CONCERTS |
University Symphony Orchestra performs Fabulous Favorites!
Joining the orchestra are CSU faculty members Ron Francois, violin, and Rachel Starr Ellins, harp, for a performance of Max Bruch's heart rending Scottish Fantasy. The Scottish Fantasy is Bruch's own impression of Scotland and "although he never visited the land of kilts, golf, and heavy wool clothing, he does utilize several Scottish folk tunes that gives the work its unique character," says Maestro Kenney. The harp is predominantly featured along with the solo violin and the combination of sounds is what Bruch thought to be a quintessentially Scottish color. Don't miss this opportunity to hear the sweet sound produced by the combination of the violin and harp! Framing this centerpiece is one of Brahms' most intense orchestral movements, the Tragic Overture. To close, the orchestra displays its full spectrum of ability as it takes on the splash, haunting textures, and power of Respighi's great descriptive symphony, The Pines of Rome. DOWNLOAD A POSTER
