The Birthday Party by Harold PinterIf you haven't seen Harold Pinter's play The Birthday Party - this comedy of menace that is funny, clever, and sinister by turns continues through Saturday.

 

We also invite you to join us this week for two band concerts - the Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band and the Honor Band - as well as the Symphony Concert featuring the annual Concerto Competition finalists.

WEEKEND OF BAND CONCERTS
Enjoy two great band concerts this weekend as CSU welcomes guest conductor Ray Cramer, who led the Indiana University Wind Ensemble to earn an international reputation for outstanding musical performances. On Friday, hear a stunning performance by the Wind Ensemble of Michael Daugherty's Raise the Roof featuring special guest CSU faculty Eric Hollenbeck.

The CSU Symphony Orchestra's February 19 concert includes the exciting annual concerto competition! Gregory Gates, marimba, Dawn Grapes, flute, and Dallin Kuzmich, violin, are the final three concerto competition survivors, pared down from 26 entrants. READ MORE ABOUT THE FINALISTS (PDF)
 
Conductor Wes Kenney says, "Every year the competition gets more difficult to judge as a result of the level of our competitors always moving up. This great event is coupled with the early 20th century's great symphonists. It is sure evening of drama and intrigue." MORE INFO (PDF)

Falstaff by VerdiVerdi's opera Falstaff will delight you with its memorable characters, comedy, and melodies. Based on Shakespeare's play The Merry Wives of Windsor, Falstaff tells the story of the incorrigible yet irresistible rogue Falstaff, a braggart, con man and habitual liar who attempts to woo two married noblewomen at the same time, in hopes of procuring their fortunes. His scheme is quickly discovered, and the women get hilarious revenge.

FORT COLLINS SYMPHONY PRESENTS: What's Love Got To Do With It? Featuring Pianist Bobbie Mielke
 
Pianist Bobbie MielkeBobbie Mielke's love for piano, family, friends, Colorado State University and Fort Collins come together in her concert-hall solo debut. The performance features Mozart's K488 Piano Concerto, with the cadenza specially written by her son-in-law Nicholas Basila, who has a degree in music composition from the New England Conservatory. Mielke is a member of the accompanying staff at CSU, and CSU Faculty and Fort Collins Symphony conductor Wes Kenney says, "We're so lucky to have Bobbie in our community as she adds so much the musical life of Fort Collins. I know this will be a wonderful performance."
