The "Power Hour"
Do you often find yourself procrastinating or unable to focus and stick with the task at hand? I sure do. One of my favorite strategies I use to overcome this is the "Power Hour."
Note: I certainly did not come up with this phrase
or concept myself, and my gratitude goes out to
whomever came up with this!
What is a "Power Hour?"
A Power Hour is a solid 60 minutes which you have blocked out for the sole purpose of accomplishing a specific task.
Here's what you do:
- Choose your focus for the hour ~ whatever you have been procrastinating about
- Gather all the supplies and tools you will need to focus solely on this task
- Create a comfortable, pleasing work area
- Eliminate all distractions (turn off the TV, your phone, computer, etc. ~ unless they are needed, of course, for your task)
- Set a timer for 60 minutes
- Then go for it for a FULL 60 minutes
- Reward yourself when you are done!
Give this a try whenever you feel you are not making progress. You'll be amazed at what you can accomplish.
