MEET LAGFF'S MARIA MARTIN
Meet Maria Martin, LAGFF's triple threat: Marketing Coordinator, Executive Administrator, and official Staff Photographer. At LAGFF, Maria heads the Festival's marketing efforts while managing organizational tasks and documenting LAGFF events for photo archival purposes.

Maria is an Army brat born in Greece to an American father and a Greek mother. Raised throughout Europe, Maria graduated from the University of Washington with a B.A. in political science and worked at the U.S. Embassy in Athens, Greece, for six years following college.

Maria recently retired from the RAND Corporation, a public policy think-tank, to pursue her career in photography. Her photographic work has been shown at Bergamot Station and various galleries throughout Los Angeles and the South Bay, and many of her photos now grace offices and homes in Southern California and Greece.

LAGFF's marketing efforts include collaborations with other community organizations to promote festival film programs, and cross-promotions with educational institutions, art organizations, and entertainment industry businesses.

To contact Maria with marketing opportunities, write to her at mariamartin@lagreekfilmfestival.org

HOST A GREEK FILMMAKER
The economic crisis in Greece has significantly limited the likelihood of filmmakers making the trip to Hollywood to share their work with us in person.  The cost of travel to Los Angeles, accommodations for 5 days, and expenses can be very expensive. Do you, would you, could you help a filmmaker come to LAGFF? Do you have a spare room available?  Do you live within 10 miles of Hollywood? Would you consider extending your hospitality to a filmmaker for 5 days? Could you imagine what a great opportunity it would be to meet and host a filmmaker in your home?

If you would be interested in hosting a filmmaker, please contact Eleni Arvaniti at eleni@lagreekfilmfestival.org for more details or to discuss how you may be able to help.

PLEASE DONATE
If you are unable to offer your home, but would like to help a filmmaker, please consider making a small tax-deductible contribution to our Host a Greek Filmmaker program.  Every dollar raised will be distributed to our incoming filmmakers to help them offset their expenses for their trip to Hollywood while attending LAGFF.

Please visit our donation page and enter any amount you would like to contribute. It's that easy.  Your contribution will help, as no amount is too small. Even $5 is great - it's a cup of coffee!

"MIKIS THEODORAKIS, COMPOSER" SCREENS IN LOS ANGELES
Asteris Koutoulas's documentary MIKIS THEODORAKIS, COMPOSER, which had its US premiere at LAGFF 2011, returns to Los Angeles for an exclusive private showing and reception, presented by the Hellenic University Club, this Sunday, May 6, at Culver City Studios. For details and reservations, visit
www.HUC.org

This concerted survey of legendary Mikis Theodorakis' artistic creativity of a lifetime takes us through each stage in his creative development, revealing the wide spectrum of his work and how inseparable it is from European and Greek history of the 20th Century since World War II. The film approaches the artist's immensity by allowing his words, music and the images to speak for themselves.

Since 1980, Asteris Kutulas has collaborated with Mikis Theodorakis in producing 30 music CDs and organizing more than 150 concerts all over the world. In 1998, he published the Theodorakis catalogue of the composer's works. Klaus Salge started his career as a documentarian in 1972.
