MY BABY IS BREECH - HELP!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If you are told your baby is presenting as breech (bottom or feet down), then having acupuncture between 33 and 36 weeks will give you the best opportunity to turn that baby. So don't leave it too late as you're little person needs some room to move! A 1998 Italian study found that 75% of breech babies turn using acupuncture between 33 and 36 weeks!
KIDS AND COLD FOOD ARE PROBLMATIC
 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
crawling baby Children have so much energy to enjoy life and do a great job of living in the moment. So it's important to do what's best for their growing little bodies and surprisingly, this includes them avoiding eating food straight out of the fridge!

Why? Because it chills their stomach and digestive process which works much better when it's warm, according to Chinese medical theory.50 years ago we didn't have this problem as there wasn't wide-scale refrigeration, however these days everyone has a fridge but our bodies haven't had time to evolve into eating a lot more cold food.

Where possible give your children room temperature drinks and fruit and leave the dairy products to come straight out of the fridge. Your child's digestive system needs lots of easy to digest foods that will build a solid foundation for them in later life. Their system doesn't fully stop developing from a Chinese medical perspective until they are seven years old. The types of food that are easy to digest include: soups and stews, cooked vegetables, grains and meat. Sugar, dairy products (after five-years-old), fruit and oily food need to be limited as they impede the digestive process as all of these products are mucus producing. It should also be noted that children fair best with a reasonably bland diet. They don't require herbs and spices to the extent that adults enjoy. The blander and fresher and simpler the diet, the stronger their digestive system will be, which will set them up for a strong body for life. Now that's peace of mind.
ACUPRESSURE WORKSHOP TO DECREASE PAIN DURING LABOUR
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
GB21 face on
If you are keen to have a natural birth then this is the workshop for you.
Learn effective pain relief techniques in a supportive and informative environment using acupressure. Find out how to encourage labour to progress, calm the mind and diminish nausea - all with acupressure.
In this workshop, developed by Debra Betts - midwife and acupuncturist, you will develop an understanding of where the acupressure points are, how best to put the appropriate amount of pressure on them and when to do it. You & your partner will come away with valuable tools to effectively assist a natural labour. You will also receive a booklet with pictures of where all the points are and info on what they do, as well as a quick reference guide for the big day.
If you're pregnant, it's preferable to bring along the person who is going to be supporting you so they can become familiar with where the points are on your body.
"I found using acupressure during labour brilliant. Having used acupressure I wouldn't even consider being in labour without it. The difference was amazing - I felt a lot calmer and able to cope and much more relaxed. It was really good for me to have my partner so closely involved with each contraction - I felt connected and supported. Acupressure helped me stay focused and calm."
By Sarah Doherty, Wellington.
