Yuri's Night
 

Yuri's Night is a global celebration of humanity's future in space held on or around each April 12th. Engineers, scientists, artists, educators, space enthusiasts and fans of having fun are encouraged to attend one of the hundreds of events being held around the world this April--or start an event of their own. Yuri's Night commemorates the first manned launch of cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin (on April 12, 1961) and the first launch of the Space Shuttle (on April 12, 1981), and Yuri's Night 2011 is conducting an exciting series of contests, competitions and partnerships to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Gagarin's first flight.
