Our fun and warm welcome at
Waldorf GBC |
The Lord is risen! He is risen indeed! This has been a weird couple of weeks leading up to Easter. It has snowed here three times in April then the other day it was 25C (about 80F).
On Palm Sunday as we prepared to celebrate six baptisms at the Village, we were shocked with the news that the step-daughter of a Village member had died the night before. Please pray for her family. 'N' lived in Toronto and sadly did not stay in contact.

'N' with Elise |
Police are still investigating her death. She was usually in an abusive situation and lived an addicted lifestyle through many of her adult years. All of her four children were taken away by child protective services before the age of five and her youngest is only six months old. We had asked you to pray for 'N' last year. It seemed by all appearances that she was turning her life around and finally searching for life's answers in the right place - through Jesus Christ. We pray she is now with Jesus.

Snow at The Village |
On Easter Sunday, we left the funeral home rather perplexed after experiencing so many extremes and contradictions in the past few weeks: snowy days followed by heat, death followed by baptism into new life. But isn't that what Easter is all about? Death followed by eternal life, the coldness of life followed by the loving warmth of His son. Thank you for your prayers. It means a lot to us knowing we are not alone. The Lord has risen! He has risen indeed!
Medicine Hat Matters
By now you should have received your GBCanada USA newsletter in the mail (if not, you can get a copy at www.gbcanada.ca). Elise is standing by awaiting her first email on how creative you get with helping us to launch the church this fall (see last page of that newsletter). Each of the Canadian churches are fundraising as well. The Village is selling coffee mugs (right) and holding yard sales but we know you can be creative too eh?
Travel Update: It was wonderful to visit ministry partners in OH, PA, MD and VA earlier this month. We drive to Indianapolis for GBIF board meetings next month. Please pray for the GBIF Board and our time on the road and connecting with old friends.
The Great Canadian Adventure will play a big role in launching Grasslands Church. It's not too late for YOU to physically show up and be part of what God is doing in Medicine Hat. Click on this link www.youtube.com/watch?v=C0Oljq5-dlw to see our video and listen to one our church planting associates, Bart, tell you all about it. You can also go directly to the GCA website or click on the Short-Term Teams tab on our website.
For ongoing and historical updates for all the GBCanada missionaries and church planters, please check our website and follow the links. |
