Greetings
I hope the new year has been an excellent one so far! With my own birthday yesterday and my son turning one last week I am reminded how quickly this life passes. This week I stared into the eyes of a 45 year old and for the first time that face was mine! I am as optimistic as they come however even I must conclude that I am or have approached the half way point in this journey. Even writing it here causes a pause, mid-life, really, already?
By all accounts I am blessed and lucky to have lived the life I have. At certain points I am lucky just to have survived. However with all that said, there is so much I wish to do, to feel and to experience. The passing of my 45th serves as a reminder not to waste a precious breath of this life and most of all to actually live in each moment.
Last month, I challenged you to make a list for this year to help shape as you wish. In my never ending pursuit to walk the talk, here is mine.
- Places you would like to visit this year: Tokyo, Bangkok and Kauai (again)
- Things you would like to learn this year: Piano
- How you would like to eat this year: Less Eggs
- How fit would you like to be this year: Finish Kung Fu system
- How helpful would you like to be: Be the best father I can be
- What kind of people do you want to be around: Like Minded
- What do you not want to bring with you from last year: Regrets
I would love to hear yours! and we can compare notes at the end of the year! Send yours to me at Kurt@AmericanPowerYoga.com or find me on FaceBook.com.
I will give something nice to the most interesting!
This month we have all kinds of things that might help you cross some
things off of your list like trips, trainings and workshops!
Much love ~
Kurt Johnsen

Yoga 101
Get the basics and build on it!
Yoga 101-The Basics with Jayme
Saturday February 27th from 2:00 - 3:30 p.m.
In Yoga 101 we will cover all the basics you need to get your yoga practive off to a great start! We'll cover how to modify and customize the most commonly used poses like plank, down dog, up dog, lunges, and twists as well as give you detailed instruction on how to engage the hands and core that will greatly decrease your chances for injury in class. We'll talk about breathing and whats the point of yoga in the first place! Why a beginner's workshop is so important? Well, in a regular class scenerio it's difficult to fully explain all of the details. Open level classes wil be much easier and you'll build strength and flexibility quickly and more efficiently. Knowing how to breath, customize, and engage certain muscles will have you feeling much better physically which will keep you coming back.

Classroom Etiquette
At APY we try to keep things as laid back and fun as possible. But please keep the following in mind this year. ~Save the studio phone number in your contacts (469-232-9642) and call ahead if you're going to be late for class. We can put a mat down for you so it won't disturb the other practitioners. ~please use the dressing rooms to change in instead of the bathroom during the busy evening hours. (we are adding lights and mirrors!!) ~If you are going to be more than 5 minutes late please do not try to attend class. ~Turn off your cell phone and keep phone conversations in the lobby. ~If you need to leave class early, inform the instructors before hand, choose a spot that is closer to the door, and exit quietly before the lights are dimmed for meditation. ~Please gather all of your belongings. ~If you are pregnant please inform your instructor.
