Great Expectations

This time of year is always filled with great anticipation as people look forward to the arrival of summer and the long months filled with warm weather, water ice, graduations, weddings, and vacations.  The excitement in the air is contagious and Habitat has not gone unaffected.

I am pleased and privileged to announce the opening of our very own ReStore.  The past few years have been spent researching the ReStore concept and best practices, holding monthly garage sales, and searching for the perfect site, none of which would have been possible without the determination, strength and resources of our tireless volunteers.

This day has been long awaited by shoppers and donors alike.  Many people have been waiting for the ReStore doors to open so they can seek out the great finds and low prices that are offered, while others may be relieved to have their donations picked up so they can finally get those appliances, cabinetry, furniture or other home improvement items out of their basements or garages.

Opening the ReStore is also the beginning of a new chapter in Habitat's book.  By housing our store, offices and construction warehouse under one roof, and creating a source of unrestricted revenue that will help us further our mission of eliminating poverty housing in Montgomery County, the ReStore is truly the physical and financial future of our organization.

As we turn the page to venture into this new endeavor, I ask that you continue to support our work and consider becoming a permanent part of our future by participating in our brick campaign.  Right now, we have a special opportunity for you to purchase a personalized brick that will be used to create new entranceways and landscaping for our new home.

Beyond the ReStore, all of us at Habitat are eagerly anticipating several upcoming summer events, including our 49th home dedication at the end of June, a Women Build benefit walk in July, and our first-ever joint benefit concert with the Tri-County Performing Arts Center in August.  Read on below and stay tuned for details on all of these great events!

I invite you to stop by this weekend (or any Friday or Saturday throughout the summer) to see our new home, to shop, and to be a part of our future.

Sincerely,

Brenda Egolf-Fox
Executive Director
