 March 2011
The Newsletter

Greetings!

This month, we wanted to share with you our Economic Forecast Slides for Butte, Glenn and Tehama Counties.  Though these address issues specific to these counties, data on the national economy are presented as well.

Additionally, with the release of the latest Census data we thought you would like to see the population changes at the county level throughout Northern California.  CED is in the process of putting together an interactive workshop on "Knowing Your Numbers - What Do You Want to Know About Your Community or Neighborhood."  We will be announcing this very soon.

Finally, our Map of the Month calls attention to the fact that both the Chico and Redding continue to rank above the national unemployment rate - as does most of California.

Latest Census Data

On Tuesday, March 8th, the U. S. Census Bureau released its redistricting data for California.  This means that we now have digital access to all Census data collected in 2010.

CED is currently downloading this Census data and merging it into our GIS mapping system, giving us the ability to provide customized data products for individual business, government, or organizational needs.  This information will be available down to the Census Block level providing for specific and detailed queries.  If you can create your own area, we can prepare a customized data report just for you.

Contact Warren Jensen (898-3863, wjensen@csuchico.edu) to find out how CED can develop a customized data report to meet your needs.
