NantWorks Acquires Boston Life Labs

SoCalBio MastNantWorks, the West Los Angeles company founded by biotech billionaire Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong (photo right), said the technology developed by Boston Life Labs of Phoenix will be integrated with other recent acquisitions in the health information sphere. Boston Life Labs, which has been renamed NantCare LLC, makes hardware and software products enabling wireless devices to measure blood pressure, blood sugar, weight and medication management and transmit the information to a patient's doctor ... C3 Jian Raises $30 Million

SoCalBio MastAll three current primary shareholders of C3 Jian, Wyssta Investments, Inc., Renaissance Health Services Corp., and Corvesta, Inc., participated in the financing of C3 Jian. Founded by UCLA scientist Dr. Wenyen Shi (photo right), C3 Jian expects to use the proceeds to advance its lead product, C16G2, a peptide drug targeting dental caries, into human clinical trials in the United States. The Company is planning to file an Investigational New Drug Application (IND) with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in April. Proceeds from the financing will also be used to support production development and scale-up, GMP manufacturing, as well as final development and clinical testing of a hand held diagnostic product related to C16G2 ... Arrowhead Research Corporation and Axolabs GmbH Enter into Strategic Alliance and Master Services Agreement for RNAi Therapeutics

Under the terms of the agreement, Axolabs, founded by the principals of former Roche Center of Excellence for RNAi Therapeutics in Kulmbach, Germany, will provide Arrowhead and its partners first-in-class oligonucleotide optimization, synthesis, and analytics. These services include bioinformatics for siRNA design; lead identification, optimization and characterization; as well as siRNA synthesis and CMC-related activities.
