Hello Housekeepers!

Welcome to the first edition of the Brocante Newsletter. After five years on line at BrocanteHome I rather think it is time to celebrate Vintage Housekeeping in all it's wonderful, life-changing glory!
To me Vintage Housekeeping has always been about making the mundane, delicious. It is about appreciating the teeniest details of our day, layering our lives with domestic ritual and routine and at least on some level committing to our current home, whether it be caravan or castle...

But then you know all this already, for haven't I been harping on about it for five years now? Isn't it time I changed the record??

No! Not at all. For every housekeeper who is old hat at living a life stuffed with puttery treats there is another who has lost her way, or has just discovered that there is a scrumptiously delicious  alternative to despising housework. And everytime I think I know it all, I discover another vintage guide to housekeeping thats turns my way of thinking on it's head...

Vintage housekeeping, you see, still excites me. It shapes  both my days and my way of life and I am so terribly grateful for all the correspondance I receive telling me that it is shaping your way of life too!

However, life mustn't stand still and so today I bring you this email to remind you to keep on keeping on incorparating the unknown into your day: to seek out ways to make the dullest of tasks bearable, to trail around European blogs seeking  inspiration, to start a collection of vintage womens magazines to remind you of how a slower pace of life enabled the kind of dedication to domesticity we can only dream of today, and to re-read  The Vintage Housekeepers Manifesto  all over again and commit to a life more scrumptious....

Incorporate the unknown: that is my lesson for today

Have a lovely November Sweetheart.
