Dear Clients. Friends and Collegues,
I am very blessed and honored to work everyday with animals and the people who love them. Along the way, many of them move me profoundly, filling my heart with love and exposing me to wisdom I would otherwise never receive. Sometimes, this happens just by who these beings are or the special, unexpected things they do.
Such was the case with Keisha Cusano the cat, with whom I first began talking many years ago. Keisha's empathic sensitivity, her soft, kind wisdom, her commitment to her own healing and growth--layers and layers of it over time--and her devotion to her cat sister and her human mother both touched me and taught me. She is deeply grieved and missed on the earth. May her spirit be blessed with grace and love.
Enjoy the story her human Diane wrote in her honor.
With Cowboy and Melvina, I learned about the love between a dog and a gopher, who transcend all expectations of prey and predator. And I was deeply touched by each of their messages about their bond.
And then there are the whales, my beloved humpback whales, who graced us with extraordinary encounters of physical touch and love this year in Silver Bank.
Finally, there is the story of how a shoe company saved a penguin! I hope you enjoy these stories of special people and extraordinary animals. May you and your animal loved ones be blessed with great love and gentle peace.

Honoring Keisha
(Keisha is derived from nkisa which in a West African language means "The Favored One")

Keisha was truly the "Kitty of My Heart"
She walked into a room,
and my heart would smile.
She meowed with her sweet voice
and my heart lifted.
She laid her head on my chest and my heart healed.
She graced me with her sweet presence for 13 years and I am so grateful. Portia and I miss her deeply and I know that her sweet heart is deeply tucked into the essence of my heart.
Love and Blessings from Diane Cusano

Inter Species Love: Cowboy and Melvina
When two animals of different species who are typically prey and predator demonstrate obvious affection for each other, it doesn't just surprise us, it usually melts our hearts. It's such a model for us as humans about what peaceful coexistence can be, about the possibilities that lie within each of us to overcome traditions and expectations of who we are supposed to love, who is supposed to be friend or enemy, and to just love. READ MORE about this very special dog and gopher and what they each have to say about their relationship.

To Feel a Whale's Touch
Every year I travel to Silver Bank off the coast of the Dominican Republic to bring a group of people to swim with North Atlantic Humpback whales. This is like Christmas to me-- the most anticipated and exciting weeks of my year. When we arrive, and whales who wish to have an encounter with us in the water calmly approach our small boats in invitation to join them, we slip into the water. Floating next to them I am in heaven--peaceful, blissful, Christmas in Heaven.
This year, those of us blessed to be there from Australia, France, Canada, China, Sweden, Switzerland and the U.S. were treated to unbelievable encounters with two very special mothers and calves. After 14 weeks of swimming with the whales over 12 years, you might think it's pretty much the same every year. Definitely not! This year's encounters brought us hours of intimacy and love that will stay in my heart forever.
Read more on my blog about what it was like for several of us to be touched by the whales this year--touched on our hands and in our hearts, branding us with their love.
On July 24th I will be holding another Communicating and Healing with the Whales telegathering. If you would like a space saved for you, just email us. Invites to go out in June.

In honor of the special whales we saw this year and the participants who were part of it, a donation has been made to Center for Coastal Studies in Provincetown, MA for their whale disentanglement program. They are pioneers in this field and have helped free over one hundred whales from fishing nets and gear which prevented probable slow and painful deaths.

Teva Helps Disabled Penguin
Though I am not a supporter of animals being taken away from their homes and families to live in zoos, I am a huge fan of anything humans do to help animals, wherever they live. When a little penguin was born at the Santa Barbara Zoo with a disabled foot that would not allow him to get out of water (he could have drowned), the Teva shoe people came to the rescue. They designed a special boot for his little foot that allows him to now get in and out of water safely and to walk easily.
See the detailed story on You Tube. Go Tiva! And may this little penguin named Lucky live a long, happy, healthy life! God Bless You Lucky ~
