CLA Young Adult Book Award...
All Good Children, a teen novel by Catherine Austen, has won the 2012 Canadian Library Association's Young Adult Book Award. The award will be presented at the CLA Annual Convention in June.
Congratulations to the author.
All Good Children has also been shortlisted for the Teen Top Ten list from YALSA and ALA. (Note to authors: if your last name doesn't start with an "A," you might consider changing it.)
And Booklist said of the book: "Austen writes with cinematic definition, driving the action with taut dialogue and unremitting menace...Action-packed, terrifying, and believable...will provoke important discussions about subservience, resistance, and individual freedom."

You know how we hunger for approval?
Well, a few recent titles have been approved by ERAC, the Educational Resources Acquisition Consortium. The Salmon Bears - Giants of the Great Bear Rainforest; The Sea Wolves - Living Wild in the Great Bear Rainforest and Generation Us - The Challenge of Global Warming, have all been approved by ERAC for use in BC schools. Salmon Bears and Sea Wolves both have comprehensive teachers' guides available and will be a great addition to the classroom.

The Crime Writers of Canada have announced the 2012 shortlist for the Arthur Ellis Award.
Two Orca titles made the list:
