Where did February go? That extra leap day should have let us catch up on a few things...no such luck. Lots of news to share this month.    

BC Book Prizes...518 by 260 book shelf

The nominees for this years BC Book Prizes have been announced and we have three - count 'em - three nominees!

(We considered staging a Hunger Games-type competition to pick a winner but the authors preferred to wait for the announcement on May 12, 2011.

Willow we win?

The Saskatchewan Young Readers' Choice Award has announced the nominees for the Diamond Willow Award.

Better Than Weird by Anna Kerz, Missing by Becky Citra, Power Play by Liam O'Donnell and Mike Deas and Somebody's Girl by Maggie de Vries have all been nominated for the award. 

 

Seven (the series)... 

On October 10, 2012, Orca will launch a series of seven books written by seven bestselling authors: Eric Walters, John Wilson, Ted Staunton, Richard Scrimger, Norah McClintock, Sigmund Brouwer and Shane Peacock.

All Good Children, a teen novel by Catherine Austen has been shortlisted for the 2012 Canadian Library Association Young Adult Book Award.

The winner will be announced and the award presented at the annual CLA conference in Ottawa on May 31st.  

Talking 'bout your generation...
518 by 260 book shelf First we sent Generation Us - The Challenge of Global Warming to all Members of Parliament. Now we are sending the book, a succinct and readable analysis of global warming by Dr. Andrew Weaver, to 100 high schools in BC. With the help of Claude Labine of Campbell Scientific Canada, the book will go out this month.
