City Kids is "revelatory"...

Cover of City Kids Congratulations to XJ Kennedy, whose City Kids: Street and Skyscraper Rhymes (Tradewind Books) was named a Lion and The Unicorn Honor Book for 2011! The Lion and the Unicorn awards excellence in North American Poetry. In their awards essay, the judges said the "carefully woven rhythm and rhyme" of "The Man with the Tan Hands" "makes the mundane street scene something revelatory."  They also comment that "[o]ne of the many great strengths of this volume is Kennedy's ability to make us see from the poetic object's perspective rather than the poet's."
