The Year in Review...
The past year was a bumper crop for books at Orca. Fall 2010 was our biggest season yet with 35 new titles hitting the shelves.
It was a big year for our authors, too.
- Orca books combined for a total of nearly 50 award nominations this year in Canada and the USA.
- Me, Myself and Ike by K.L. Denman was nominated for a Governor General's Literary Award.
Publishers Weekly said, "A stark and fascinating portrait of a paranoid and delusional teenager...Denman deftly gets into the head of a mentally unwell teenager while telling a coherent, engaging story." - The Sea Wolves by Nicholas Read and Ian McAlliser was named a Best Book of 2010 by January Magazine. With partial profits going to Pacific Wild, what's not to love about this book?

Let's Get Digital...
We love seeing people access stories in new ways. Ebooks debuted on our website in October, so now you can read your favorite Orca titles in print, on a desktop, eReader, smartphone, tablet or just about anywhere.
You'll also find Orca books popping up all over the web in new and exciting formats:
- A Story Before Bed Record a video of yourself reading a children's book and share your video (along with an animated version of the book) with all the important kids in your life.
- Big Universe An online reading writing community for grades preK-8.
- Tumble Books Animated, talking picture books that teach kids the joy of reading.

A Double Debut...
Under the imprint Raven Reads, we introduced the Rapid Reads series in the spring. Rapid Reads are short, high-interest books for adults, perfect for ESL students, reluctant readers, adults who struggle with literacy and anyone who wants an high-interest quick read. Good things really do come in small packages!
Booklist said, "With rare voices and taut suspense, these titles provide accessible choices for struggling and strong readers alike."
Orca went trilingual this year. In addition to the Spanish translations we added a few years ago, select Orca Soundings and Orca Currents are now available in French! See the collection of French titles here.
