OCBC's BIZPAC HOSTS RECEPTION FOR SENATOR LOU CORREA
The
Orange County Business Council's Political Action Committee, BIZPAC,
hosted a warm reception for State Senator Lou Correa last Thursday. Over
40 business and community leaders joined together to recognize the hard
work and dedication of the Senator.
BIZPAC plays a leading role in supporting candidates for elected office
who are supportive of the business community. Senator Correa, a
pro-business Democrat, has continually supported OCBC and has agreed
with 90 percent of the Council's positions on major initiatives
throughout the county.

OCBC REPRESENTS BUSINESS COMMUNITY AT JWA'S VIRGIN AMERICA LAUNCH The
Orange County Business Council was on the tarmac for Virgin America's
inaugural flight into John Wayne Airport (JWA) yesterday. JWA is the
ninth newest destination for the San Francisco based airline.
Upon touchdown, the airline's first commercial passengers were greeted
with a "beach-meets-runway" party on the tarmac.
"We're pleased to welcome Virgin America to Orange County," said SNA
Airport Director Alan Murphy. "Competition brings more options for
travelers, and we think Virgin America's low fares and fun, innovative
in-flight amenities will be a popular choice for our visitors and
residents."

MEG WHITMAN ANNOUNCED FOR NEXT CHAIRMAN'S LEADERSHIP BREAKFAST

OCBC GEARS UP FOR SPECIAL ELECTION - MAY 19
With a $42 billion state budget deficit
looming, the Governor and Legislature passed a budget and proposed propositions
to attempt to fill the hole. A special election has now been called for May 19,
2009 to consider six ballot propositions that were part of the budget
negotiations. With one week until voters weigh-in on
the May 19 special election, the Orange County Business Council has released its
positions on Props 1A through 1F.
Prop 1A: Rainy Day Budget Stabilization and Accountability Act - SUPPORT
Prop 1B: Education Funding. Payment Plan - OPPOSE
Prop 1C: Lottery Modernization Act - SUPPORT

SEIMENS CORP. AWARDS ANAHEIM NATIONAL PRIZE FOR GREEN CONNECTION EFFORT
The City of Anaheim was honored Monday by the U.S. Chamber
of Commerce and Siemens Corp. during the second annual Siemens Sustainable
Community Awards. The city is one of a trio of communities to
receive the award, for its efforts to improve "quality of life within the
community by achieving complementary economic, environmental and social goals,"
according to a press release.
Anaheim won the mid-size community award for its
"Green Connection" program, designed to create a multitude of benefits for the
community and its residents through sustainable development and environmental
protection, the release states.

US Bank President and CEO Richard Davis will join Cal State Fullerton's Mihaylo College of Business and Economic's Dean Dr. Anil Puri for the 15th annual Economic Forecast Conference.
Davis has served as
Chairman of U.S. Bancorp since December 2007, Chief Executive Officer
since December 2006 and President since October 2004. Recently US Bank was one of the few banks to pass the federal government's "stress test."
This annual forecast features an overview of the current state of the economy with
specific analysis of the outlook for the business climate in Orange
County and Southern California presented by Dr. Anil Puri, Dean of Cal
State Fullerton's Mihaylo College.
