SENATE RULES COMMITTEE SUPPORTS DUNN'S CONFIRMATION TO CTC
CTC HearingLucy Dunn, President and CEO of the Orange County Business Council (OCBC) received unanimous support from the California Senate Rules Committee in the process toward full Senate confirmation to the California Transportation Commission (CTC). Dunn was appointed by Governor Schwarzenegger to the CTC in June of 2008 but must be confirmed by the Senate within one year of her appointment.  The full Senate will take up the vote in about two weeks.

Dunn received extensive support from the business community, environmental organizations and labor unions throughout Orange County and California. State Senator Lou Correa, 34th District, made a special introduction of Dunn to the Rules Committee with State Senator Tom Harman, 35th District.
As the only woman on the 11-member commission, Dunn is the only representative from Orange County - the nation's fifth largest county.   For more info contact Kris Murray.

BIZPAC ROASTS AND TOASTS SENATOR DICK ACKERMAN
BIZPAC RoastIf you missed BIZPAC's roast of Senator Dick Ackerman last week, you missed out! The political action committee of OCBC, knows that an honored elected official leaving political office is a good excuse for a roast, and that's exactly what Anaheim Mayor Curt Pringle, Assemblyman Mike Duvall, Republican Party of OC Chairman Scott Baugh, OCTA Chairman Peter Buffa, Todd Priest of Curt Pringle and Associates, and Fullerton Police Chief Patrick McKinley did.

The event highlighted the remarkable political career of  the former Senate Republican Leader, but not without taking its fair share of jabs in the process. The fun-filled evening housed 200 Orange County community leaders and elected officials to honor and pay tribute to the former Republican Leader.

"It was an honor to pay tribute to Senator Ackerman. With his track-record of working to create and protect jobs in Orange County, it was befitting that he choose to benefit the OCBC PAC with this an event.  He will definitely be missed in Sacramento" said Anaheim Mayor Curt Pringle. "OCBC's first Annual Roast will definitely not be its last!"

Who do you think should be BIZPAC's next "victim?"  For more info contact Kris Murray

CALIFORNIA AWARDED MOST RECOVERY FUNDING OF ANY STATE
State SealAccording to the federal government's tally of American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (Recovery Act) dollars that have been made available to states, California has been awarded the most funding of any state.

Nearly $13.5 billion has already been awarded to California to date, according to the Obama Administration, which is almost $4 billion more than the second-most awarded state.

"Governor Schwarzenegger made it clear that he would do what it takes to bring as much Recovery Act funding as possible back to California to help our state through this difficult economic time," said Recovery Task Force Director Cynthia Bryant. "We will continue to scour every available pot of Recovery Act funding that can benefit California."

The federal government's tally of Recovery Act funding awarded by state can be found here.
