Over 19 End of Season Social
The over 19 event for all rowers, coxswains, and boathouse and office staff is scheduled for August 10, 2012 at the Shriner's Club on Topsail Road. The event will start at 7pm and will include a barbecue, music, specials on refreshments, and prizes. There will also be a main prize which will include tickets for two anywhere West Jet flies. To claim this prize you have to be present at the time of the draw.
Information on the Under 19 (August 17) will be included in the next edition of our newsletter.

Regatta Eve Tips
1. Plan what you will eat for your Regatta Day breakfast. Choose a light meal that includes bananas, an energy bar or bagel. 2. Check out the weather forecast and make clothing adjustments accordingly. 3. Double your usual water intake. 4. Stay off of your feet as much as possible. 5. Eat carbohydrates, such as pretzels or bagels, throughout the day. Don't overload on carbs or attend an all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner the night before the race. 6. Avoid fats and alcohol. 7. Remain calm and be confident in the work you've done as you head into Regatta Day. 8. Visualize yourself completing the race and think through your strategy to help you accomplish your goals. 9. Regatta Day Tips
1. Get to the lake early. Rowers should be at the lake at least 45 minutes before their race. Take in to account parking issues.
2. Extension to the front of the seat is permitted up to 2 inches beyond the existing lip. No extension is permitted to the rear of the seat. Foot-board modifications that includes affixed footwear or alternate strapping devises other than the straps/restraints provided, is not permitted.
3. All crews must be at their respective starting stakes to start their assigned races within ten minutes of the race being called over the loud-speaker at the Boathouse. This is known as the "Ten Minute Rule." |
