A Message from the Superintendent
This morning a report was brought to my attention regarding a possible terroristic threat. At the time I was informed, the school (MPHS) had not completed the necessary investigation.
Please know the suspect was not and has not been on campus today. Before the school system could prepare necessary statements to release to our parents the news media started contacting my office. I apologize that many of you were made aware of this matter by the news media instead of me.
At approximately 2:45 PM on 9/17/2012, Mary Persons High School principal was made aware of a possible threat against other students and faculty and staff. No weapons were involved. The matter continues to be under investigation. Local law enforcement is assisting MPHS with the matter and will conduct their own investigation.
MPHS Administration has taken appropriate action based on Monroe County Board of Education Policy to ensure the safety of students, faculty and staff. School system and school officials are unable to disclose details related to the individual student(s) involved. Our parents and community members need to know that system and school administrators are treating this incident seriously and have acted accordingly.
Respectfully Submitted,
Anthony Pack
Superintendent
