  MPHS 2012 STAR Student

Lauren Maxwell has been named the 2012 STAR Student for Mary Persons High School. The Forsyth-Monroe County Chamber of Commerce is the local sponsor of the Monroe County STAR program. Lauren selected Martin Magda as her STAR Teacher. The PAGE Student Teacher Achievement Recognition (STAR) program, is sponsored by the Professional Association of Georgia Educators (PAGE) Foundation, the Georgia Chamber of Commerce and the Georgia Department of Education.

Monroe County School System PreK Enrollment

 

Day:   Thursday - March 8, 2012  Time:  8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m

Location:  Monroe County Board of Education Auditorium  25 Brooklyn Avenue

For:  Children four years of age on or before September 1, 2012 are eligible to enroll. Placement is made on a first come, first served basis with COMPLETED enrollment.  School assignments will be determined at enrollment.If you have proof of residency concerns, please call Angie Dillon at 478-994-2031 prior to Pre-K enrollment.

A Message Highlighting Important Upcoming Dates...

 

MPHS Student Registration Continues Through February 24.

MPHS Class of 2014 Registration is February 6 -8 & 10, 2012.
MPHS Class of 2015 Registration is February 21-24, 2012.
 
School winners and their sponsors, along with proud parents, and spelling fans should make plans to attend the System Spelling Bee will be February 7, 2012 at 6 p.m. in the BOE Auditorium.  
 
Progress Reports will be issued on February 9, 2012.
 
Early Release Day with Parent Conferences is upcoming on February 16, 2012
 
The school system will be closed for President's Day Holiday on February 20, 2012.
 
The Board of Education meets for its regular monthly meeting on February 21 at 7 p.m.
 
PreK Registration for all schools is at the BOE Auditorium on March 8, 2012.
 
The Board of Education meets for its regular monthly meeting on March 13 at 7 p.m.
 
The System Media Festival will be March 14, 2012 at the Education Center. 
 
Teachers will have an inservice day and students have a holiday on March 16, 2012. 
 
The school system is closed for both teachers and students for a holiday on March 19, 2012. 
 
Spring Holidays are April 9-13, 2012.

Single Sign-In Account for PowerSchool brings changes for Parents

With the addition of PowerSchool for Parent and Student Apps, this has required that parents (regardless of whether or not the mobile apps are used) create a "Single Sign-In" to access student information.

A Message from Professional Learning...
Assessment for Learning 
Mark Smith, teacher at Mary Persons High School, was one of a group of teachers who recently participated in the system's ongoing Assessment for Learning Training during the January 4 Professional Learning day. 
Teachers focused on learning to create units of study that match assessments with learning activities.
