A note of thanks to the
Superintendent's Parent Community Advisory Council (SPCAC)...
Welcome to another edition of Monroe Messages, Monroe County Schools e-newsletter.

Last week, over 40 parents and community members convened for lunch and to share conversations regarding educational programming and priorities of the school system. Parents learned about upcoming curriculum changes, CCGPS (Common Core Georgia Performance Standards) and parents provided input for the 2012-2013 academic calendar. Additional topics discussed were the 21st Century Community Learning Center Grant Programs held after school at the Elementary and Middle Schools, Title I Programs, Nursing, along with items brought up by council members. Principals and Parent Coordinators from each school assisted in selecting Council Members. All schools were represented during the meeting.
Respectfully submitted,
Anthony Pack
Superintendent

Old meets new as students get a "step up" for access
ActivBoards were recently added to kindergarten and prekindergarten classrooms at TGScott Elementary. To help these young students reach the upper parts of the board, the old bleachers from HMS old gym, now the warehouse, have been repurposed to make stages which enable students more access to the boards. Some of the teachers are reminiscing that they once sat on that very wood when they attended school.
