Beef Day Celebration

The Agribusiness Committee's Beef Day Celebration is Friday, September 14, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Greene County Fairgrounds Livestock Pavilion!  Contests, entertainment and free beef samples will be available as Greeneville and Greene County pay homage to the local beef producers.

KGB Conservation Camp

Keep Greene Beautiful Fifth Grade Conservation Camp will be held September 25-26 at Davy Crockett Birthplace State Park.  Topics for the camp will include "Creepy Crawlies," "Beekeeping," "Exploring our Earth," "Habitats," "Rock Cycle," "Fire Control," and "Storm Water Education."  Contact Jennifer Reynolds at 638-4111 for more information.

Please join the Green Coat Ambassadors at a ribbon cutting for Evergreen Life Services on Thursday, September 27, at 11:30 a.m.  The business is located at 1017 Tusculum Blvd.

 

 
October 13: 
Annual Household Hazardous Waste Collection

The Annual Household Hazardous Waste Collection will be held Saturday, October 13, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Hal Henard Elementary School on Vann Road.  Please remember that this is a residential collection only and that paint will not be accepted.  Oil-based paint can be taken to the Greeneville/ Greene County Landfill Monday through Friday.  Other items not accepted will be items used in commercial businesses, schools, farms and churches, radioactive materials (including smoke detectors), medical waste (including needles) and explosives or ammunition.  Tires will not be accepted, nor will empty containers of any kind, automotive gas tanks, laboratory chemicals or cooking oil.

Get Ready For The KGB 3-Mile Walk

Show your support for Keep Greene Beautiful by registering for the KGB 3-Mile Walk, title-sponsored by Laughlin Memorial Hospital, to be held October 6 at 10 a.m. in downtown historic Greeneville.  Registration will be from 9:30 to 10 a.m. with the walk beginning at The Doctor's Office on Church Street at 10 a.m.  The entry fee is $12 before September 24 and $15 after and the student rate is $7.  Everyone that pre-registers will receive a shirt.  Medals will be awarded to first, second and third in each age category, and special prizes will be given to all first place winners.  To obtain an entry form, visit KeepGreeneBeautiful.com.

 

24th Annual Farm-City Banquet

The Agribusiness Committee is working on the 24th Annual Farm-City Banquet, scheduled for Thursday, November 8, at 6:30 p.m. at the Clyde Austin 4-H Center.  Bryan Townsend, one of the nation's most active motivational humorists, is a master keynote speaker on such topics as "Making Good Things Happen," "Hitching up a Winning Team," and "Customer Service."  Sponsorship opportunities are still available.  Tickets are $15 and are available at the Partnership office.  Please contact Lori Collins at 638-4111 or email gcp@greenecop.com for more information. 

 

2012-13 Youth Council Kicks Off

Ninety-one students have signed up for the Partnership's Youth Council for the 2012-13 school year.  They assisted Gifts for Kids as their kick-off project and are helping various other organizations this month.  Contact Jennifer Reynolds at 638-4111 if you would like the Youth Council to help with an event.

Master Partnership Includes 

Self-Defense Classes

The Education & Workforce Development Department coordinated the signing of a Master Partnership agreement between the Tusculum Police Department and Chuckey-Doak High School last Thursday.  As a major part of the agreement, the Tusculum Police Department will conduct awareness training and workshops with the staff and faculty of CDHS and self-defense classes for all female students at no charge.  The police department will also be rewarding students who make good choices and decisions through a "prevention behavior program." Tourism Update

Ads Are Generating Interest

Tourism received a total of 10,709 inquiries from ads placed in regional and national publications, and more than 29,000 video downloads from the four videos posted on VideoGlobetrotter.com. Responses include: 5,451 inquiries from American Road Magazine at a Cost Per Response (CPR) of 22 cents; 2,505 inquiries from  the 2012 Tennessee Vacation Guide at a CPR of $2.33; 1,481 inquiries from Civil War, America's Civil War, and American History magazines at a CPR of 83 cents; 1,242 inquiries from the 2012 Spring Vacation Guide at a CPR of $2.01; 29,627 video downloads from VideoGlobetrotter.com at a CPR of three cents; and 30 walk-ins to the Partnership office.
