April 26: KGB 'Swing Into Spring' Golf Tournament | |
There's a little over two weeks left to sign up for Keep Greene Beautiful's "Swing Into Spring" Golf Tournament that will be held Thursday, April 26, at Nolichucky View Golf Club. If you are unable to participate in the tournament, please show your support by sponsoring a hole at a cost of $100 or a contest for $250. Teams play at a cost of $400 while individuals pay $100 each. The cost includes lunch, free beverages during play and the awards dinner. Deadline for registration is April 24. Takoma's 'Wellness 5K and Family Fun Day' | |
Takoma Regional Hospital is sponsoring the first "Wellness Challenge 5K and Family Fun Day" on Sunday, May 20, at 5 p.m. at Hardin Park. The race, which promotes community wellness, will also feature a special cookout, a children's "Fun Zone," family races and gospel singing. In addition to individual participants, the Wellness Challenge encourages corporate teams to sign up as well! The cost for individuals is $15 if registered before May 1, or $20 after the deadline and includes a T-shirt and refreshments. The cost for corporate teams of four or more is $150 through May 1, or $175 after the deadline. To register, please go to www.runtricities.org. Youth Leadership Applications Are Now Available | |
Applications for the 2012-13 Greene County Youth Leadership Program are now available. Presentations are being made at all five local high schools during which students can obtain applications, or they are available at the Greene County Partnership, 115 Academy Street. Applications should be returned to the Partnership by April 27. Selection criteria include school and community involvement, displayed leadership abilities and academic excellence. NAIA Banners On Main Street Are A Great Opportunity For Exposure! | |
Show your support of the NAIA Women's Golf National Championships by purchasing a banner on Main Street during the week of the tournament. The 18" x 36" banner will feature "Welcome NAIA" and will have your business name at the bottom. The cost for this week-long advertising is $50 per banner. Sponsorship opportunities are available for the Gus Macker 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament that the Tourism Sports Council is hosting June 23-24. By sponsoring this event, your business will get local, regional, and national exposure. The event is family-friendly and features categories from ages 8 to 80. Sponsorship packages are $150 for Community Sponsor, $300 for Court Sponsor, $1,500 for Corporate Sponsor or Special Event Sponsor, $3,000 for Official Sponsor, $3,500 for Center Court Sponsor, or $5,000 for Presenting Sponsor with a 3-year commitment. Gearing Up For The AAU National Golf Championships | |
The AAU National Golf Championships are scheduled for July 19-22 at Link Hills Country Club. Youth teams from across the nation will compete for the title as well as fill our hotel rooms, restaurants and shops. Bridgestone will be the national sponsor for the event and will award a new golf bag to the winner in each age division. Bridgestone will also be giving each player a dozen golf balls just for participating! The Sports Council is working with Bill Harper and Hal Yost with AAU on this event and will have much more information forthcoming. Laughlin Memorial Hospital is showing their support for the victims of last year's tornadoes. In memory of the seven community members that lost their lives that night, one of which was a LMH employee, the hospital will donate $1 for each new "Like" to their Facebook page now through April 27. All donations will be given to AIDNET to rebuild homes and lives right here in Greene County.
