   presents "Let's Hang On"

Keep America Beautiful

  Keep Greene Beautiful will be joining Keep America Beautiful affiliates across the country March 1-May 31 to observe the Great American Cleanup.  During this observance, everyone is encouraged to clean up litter from roads and creeks, remove graffiti, initiate beautification and community improvement projects, and plant trees and flowers.  Keep Greene Beautiful will be providing free trash bags for participating groups.  Sponsorships at $250 each are available.  Contact Jennifer Reynolds at 638-4111 or email kgb@greenecop.com to schedule a cleanup and make arrangements to obtain trash bags.

TNTrade MAP Program Benefits

  The new TNTrade MAP program is for small to mid-sized Tennessee companies marketing themselves for trade outside of the U.S.  It provides 50 percent reimbursement of up to $5,000 per year for qualified and approved export activities.  The program is funded through a grant from the U.S. Small Business Administration and is managed through the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development. Antique Appraisal Fair & Show

Is This Weekend!

  Ten appraisers, more than 35 antique dealers, and numerous museums and attractions are signed up for the Seventh Annual Antique Appraisal Fair & Show set to take place this Saturday at Greeneville High School from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Not only is admission FREE, but so are the four Civil War Presentations that will take place in Room 129 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.  The Appraisal Fair Committee would like to thank Carlos Whaley and the members of the East Tennessee Civil War Campaign for putting these presentations together.  If you would like to volunteer at the event or have any questions regarding the appraisers, please contact Tammy Kinser at tkinser@greenecop.com.

Spotlight On Advertising

  Tourism has contracted with Southern Travel for publications throughout 2012.  Greeneville and Greene County will have a two-page spread in each of the publications, as well as front cover exposure and editorial in each edition.  These editions include March/April, May/June and July/August of 2012.  This publication reaches 200,000 readers with a readership of three per copy. Statistics show that 58 percent of readers are females (average age is 47) with a household income between $50,000-$100,000, 93 percent travel by car, 60 percent are college graduates and the average length of stay for someone visiting the area is 3.81 nights. 

Sports Tourism Endeavors

  Tourism has been in communication with representatives from Amateur Athletic Union Junior Golf and AAU Baseball/Softball in the past week.  Tammy Kinser and Tom Ferguson held a conference call with AAU Junior Golf reps on Wednesday and toured Pioneer Park with David Lane of the Greeneville Astros on Friday.  It is the goal of Tourism and its Sports Council to host AAU golf this summer and AAU baseball beginning in the spring of 2013.

  Local company TEVET, a veteran-owned business (VOB) specializing in the distribution of electronic test and measurement equipment, was featured in the January issue of Vetrepreneur magazine!
