Volunteers are needed for the Seventh Annual Antique Appraisal Fair & Show that will take place Saturday, February 18, at Greeneville High School. Spots available include concessions, registration and appraiser assistants. Sponsorships can be obtained at a cost of $250 for the event or $100 for the appraisers. The Main Street: Greeneville's "SnowBall" will be held February 11 at the George R. Lane building at 130 W. Depot Street from 7 to 11 p.m. Heavy hors d'oeuvres and beverages will be served while you dance the night away to the sounds of "The Wild Honeybeans." The cost is $35 per person and tickets can be purchased at the Main Street: Greeneville office, Flowers by Tammy, Towne & Country Events, Rentals & Venues, and the Partnership office. ETSU's College of Business & Technology Career Fair | |
East Tennessee State University's College of Business and Technology will host a career fair Wednesday, February 22, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the D.P. Culp University Center Ballroom. Participating businesses will have the opportunity to interact with hundreds of students from programs such as business, computer and information sciences, digital media, engineering technology, interior design, and surveying and mapping. Annual Meeting | |
Congratulations to Landair and Jerry Fortner, award winners at the Partnership's 19th Annual Meeting last Thursday. Landair received the Partnership's 2011 Business of the Year Award for their support of numerous Partnership endeavors, the most recent being the title sponsorship of the Landair Ladies' Classic. Jerry was recognized as the 2011 Greene County Partnership Champion of the Year for the many long hours of work and assistance dedicated to locating the US Nitrogen company to Greene County, as well as his support of many Partnership events and programs. More than 150 guests enjoyed the social event which featured music by Brim Leal of Erwin, as well as great food and good company. |

The Partnership's 2011 Annual Report and 2012 Business Plan, as well as the 2012 Membership Directory, were unveiled at the Annual Meeting and will be mailed to all members. Tourism Welcomes New Chairman | |
The Tourism Advisory Task Force has named a new chairman for 2011-2012. Ginia Johnston with Hometown Realty will lead the Task Force and has already met with Tammy Kinser on new ideas for the upcoming year. Special thanks to Bill Brown of Greeneville Real Estate and Auction for his service as chairman in 2010-2011. The Task Force is charged with serving as a catalyst to enhance local economic and community growth through the promotion and development of tourism. |

"Historic District" Signs on I-81 | |
Tourism would like to thank Mayor Alan Broyles and the Greene County Commission as well as Mayor W.T. Daniels and the Board of Mayor and Alderman for their financial support for the yearly maintenance of the two "Greeneville Historic District" signs on I-81 at Exits 23 and 36. Information from TDOT confirmed that the Exit 23 sign has views of 8.5 million per year and the Exit 36 sign has views of 6.7 million. The initial cost of the signs was funded by a Rural Business Enterprise Grant. |
