The Tourism Department has historic Greeneville wrapping paper for sale at a cost of $3 per roll. Also for sale are Cumberland Presbyterian Church and First Baptist Church ornaments for only $15 each.  Visit the Partnership today to get last minute Christmas gifts and wrap them in beautiful Greeneville wrapping paper.  

Holiday Lighting Contest Winners Announced!

 

Congratulations to the winners of the 2011 Greeneville Light & Power System/Keep Greene Beautiful Residential Holiday Lighting Contest: Margaret Carpender, 205 W. Seventh Annual Antique & Appraisal Fair:

Red Cross-Kingdom Heirs "2012 Changing Lives" Concert:

Red Cross-Kingdom Heirs tickets are on sale now for the local "2012 Changing Lives" gospel concert. The Kingdom Heirs of Dollywood will headline the show on March 8, 2012, at 7 p.m. at First Baptist Church. A fundraiser for the Greene County Chapter of the American Red Cross, the show will also feature the local gospel group, NewBorn Soul. Tickets are $15 each and are available at Heritage Community Bank branches, First Baptist Church, and the local Red Cross office. Landair Ladies' Classic Tickets Now On Sale!

  Tickets are now on sale at the Partnership for the 2011 Landair Ladies' Classic which will be held December 27-30 at Hal Henard Gymnasium. The 4-day passes are being sold at a discount price of $26 each prior to the tournament. Games will kick off Tuesday, December 27, at 10 a.m. with Cocke County playing Wilson Central from Lebanon, TN, followed at 11:30 by the Morristown East-Mt. Juliet game. At 1 p.m., Chuckey-Doak takes on CAK of Knoxville, and at 2:30 p.m., Science Hill will face Bob Jones High School from Madison, AL. Play continues at 4 p.m. when North Greene plays Seymour High School, and West Greene faces Rockcastle from Mt. Vernon, KY, at 5:30 p.m. South Greene will go against Franklin County out of Winchester, TN, at 7 p.m., and the final game of the day will have Greeneville playing Charlotte Christian from Charlotte, NC, at 8:30 p.m. Brackets for the tournament are available at the Partnership offices, 115 Academy St. 

 

Sanitation Workers Honored

  Seventy local sanitation workers were honored at the Keep Greene Beautiful Annual Sanitation Breakfast December 7. Thanks to the sponsors: J.A. Street & Associates, Transport Technologies and Wal-Mart Transportation, for making the breakfast possible. Also, thank you to the businesses that donated door prizes, particularly Wal-Mart Distribution, West Main Recycling, CenturyLink and Transport Technologies.

Ferguson Appointed To TEP

  Tom Ferguson has been appointed to the Tennessee Economic Partnership (TEP) Board of Directors for 2012. TEP is a public-private program created to organize marketing opportunities that attract new jobs to the state.

 

ECD Launches Statewide Initiative To Boost Exports

  Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam and Department of Economic and Community Development Commissioner Bill Hagerty, along with officials from the U.S. Small Business Administration, United States Commercial Service and Tennessee Small Business Development Centers, have announced a new state initiative to boost Tennessee exports. The program, TNTrade, is designed to help small and medium-sized businesses grow their export activity, and consists of two primary components: the Market Access Program (MAP) and a 2012 trade mission to China and South Korea focused on medical device manufacturers. Attention Entrepreneurs: Check Out The New ETRAC!

  The Partnership would like for all members to be aware of the new East Tennessee Regional Accelerator Coalition, a program created in response to Governor Haslam's initiative to create jobs via entrepreneurship. This program includes a network of more than 40 organizations coordinating their efforts to encourage and support early-stage companies. ETRAC identifies and matches entrepreneurs' needs with targeted resources, and many are matched with mentors and ultimately investors. For more information click here.

 

Tourism Update

Tourism Bids Again!

  The Tourism Department, along with its Sports Council, is in the process of bidding on the 2013-2015 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division III Baseball Championships.  The event would bring in eight teams and 240 players for seven days, providing an indirect economic impact of more than $300,000, and is slated to take place at Pioneer Park on the campus of Tusculum College the third week of May.

 

Goodie Bags & Wristbands

  The Tourism Department is creating goodie bags for the more than 260 players that will be participating in the Landair Ladies' Classic.  If your business would like to supply 300 pieces of a product, coupons, certificates, etc., contact Tammy Kinser at tkinser@greenecop.com by Tuesday, December 20, for inclusion in the bags.  New this year will be $5 pink wristbands that will feature the tournament name and year.  If you would like to purchase one of these wristbands prior to the Classic, contact Kinser.
