 National Drug Take-Back Event:  October 29

Don't forget the National Drug Take-Back Event Saturday, October 29, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Greeneville Water Department (516 North Main Street).  This event is a free day to properly dispose of old/unused medications and to keep them from entering our waterways.  Call the Greeneville Water Department at 638-3148 for more information.

Greeneville City Schools Education Foundation Luncheon:  October 31

The Greeneville City Schools Education Foundation invites you to attend a luncheon on Monday, October 31, at the Greeneville City Schools Central Office to learn about their innovative virtual learning technology. The luncheon will begin at 11:30 a.m. and attendees will be eligible for the drawing for a Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet (Lenovo's successful answer to Apple's iPad).  23rd Annual Farm-City Banquet:  November 3

Tickets, at $15, are still available for the 23rd Annual Farm-City Banquet, scheduled for Thursday, November 3, at 6:30 p.m. at the Clyde Austin 4-H Center.  Rhonda Jones Sparks will be the guest speaker.  The banquet will feature a New York Strip steak meal with all the trimmings followed by the presentation of the J.W.  Education & Workforce Development Summit:  November 28

The Education & Workforce Development Program will be hosting a summit on Monday, November 28, at the Greeneville Light & Power building from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Members of the education and manufacturing sectors will be coming together to discuss bridging the gap between school and work, as well as training programs and the future of our workforce. Cal Doty, the human resource manager at DTR Tennessee, will chair the event which will be facilitated by Millie Calloway with TVA. For more information contact Kelly Burrell at the Partnership.

What A Tremendous Partnership Membership Campaign!!!

  Chris Marsh of Marsh Petroleum & Oil, chairman of the campaign, announced the final results of a tremendously successful membership campaign Thursday evening at the wrap-up meeting at the Partnership. Nine teams recruited 207 new members which resulted in revenues of more than $52,000. Congratulations to the John Loven Team for the top dollar sales, and to Holly Brooks, top salesperson, who alone brought in $10,660 in membership investments. The Partnership extends its sincere appreciation to all of the nine teams and the 75 team members who set new records for a membership campaign in our community!

Get Involved!

  The Partnership welcomes ALL of its new members and encourages them to take advantage of Partnership benefits and opportunities for themselves and their businesses. At the present time, the staff and Landair Ladies' Classic Committee are working on the tournament that will be held December 27-30 at Hal Henard Gymnasium. There are advertising opportunities and sponsorship offers which provide free tournament passes, free advertising in the gym and program, reserved seating and hospitality room privileges. Christmas Parade Date Announced

  The Partnership and the Breakfast and Noon Exchange Clubs of Greeneville have announced that the 2011 Greeneville Christmas Parade will be held Sunday, December 4, at 2 p.m. in downtown Greeneville. This year's theme will be "The Greatest Gift: A Child." All who wish to participate in the parade MUST HAVE a permit to enter the staging area on the day of the parade. Permits are distributed after individuals have registered at the Partnership. For more information, call the Partnership at 638-4111 or email vandrew@greenecop.com.

Tourism Update

NAIA Fall Preview A Success!

  Tourism's Sports Council hosted anotherNAIA Fall Preview Winners successful NAIA Fall Preview October 2-4 at Link Hills Country Club.  More than 100 players and coaches from 10 states were in our community for four days and enjoyed great golf and great food.  The Fall Preview is a prelude to the 2012 NAIA Women's Golf National Championships that will take place May 19-25.  Winners of this year's event were: Lee University out of Tennessee, in first place with a 2-day total of 617 and Northwood University out of Florida as runner-up with a 2-day total of 621.  The Sports Council would like to thank Bob Ward, Link Hills Country Club and the sponsors: C&C Millwright, Coca-Cola of Morristown, Consumer Credit Union, DTR Tennessee, Greeneville Light & Power System, Holston United Methodist Home for Children, McInturff, Milligan & Brooks, Premium Waters, South State Contractors, Wal-Mart Store #680, and Wal-Mart Transportation.

National Job Shadowing Day

  2012 Job Shadowing Day will be held on Friday, February 3. Greeneville and Greene County high school students will spend the day in business and industry as part of the national job shadowing program. Students from all five high schools and the Center for Technology will be participating in the day-long event, giving them an opportunity to learn about their chosen career paths.
