Free Disposal Day: Oct. 22 |  | |
Don't forget the Free Disposal Day for local residents at the Greeneville/Greene County Transfer Station and Demolition Landfill Saturday, October 22, from 8 a.m. to noon. The event is for households only, so no commercial or business waste will be accepted. They will be accepting construction and demolition material, brush, leaves and grass clippings. The landfill will also be accepting oil-based paint with a 10-gallon limit per person. Items NOT accepted will be tires, electronic items or any type of liquid or fluid. Greeneville City Schools Education Foundation Luncheon: Oct. 31 |  | |
The Greeneville City Schools Education Foundation will host a luncheon Monday, October 31, to demonstrate the school system's innovative virtual learning technology. The event will be held at 11:30 a.m. at the Greeneville City Schools central office, located in the Kathryn W. Leonard Administrative Office Building at 129 W. Depot Street. All GCP board members and any interested members are invited and encouraged to attend. As an added bonus, there will be a drawing for a Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet, which is Lenovo's successful answer to Apple's iPad! You must be present to win. 23rd Annual Farm-City Banquet: Nov. 3 |  |
The Agribusiness Committee has set the date for the 23rd Annual Farm-City Banquet for Thursday, November 3, at 6:30 p.m. at the Clyde Austin 4-H Center. The motivational and keynote speaker for the event will be Rhonda Jones Sparks, born and raised in Greene County. Tickets at $15 are available at the Partnership, Farm Credit Services, Greene County Farm Bureau and Heritage Community Bank on Church Street. Sponsorships at $175 are available. Membership Campaign Update | |
Expect the final results of the 2011 Membership Campaign spearheaded by Chairman Chris Marsh later this week!!!! Nine team captains and more than 75 team members accepted the challenge of raising $50,000 in new membership, and the present results indicate that we could surpass the goal. As of Monday, October 10, 190 new members had been recruited during the campaign, with promises of more to come. Watch for the final totals, as well as the announcement of the top sales team and the top individual salesperson! |

Tennessee Civil Justice Act Is Good For The Business Community! | | New legislation, which took effect October 1, will make Tennessee more competitive when recruiting new industry by clearly defining the venue where a business can be sued and placing caps on damages paid. Tom Ferguson attended a private luncheon hosted by Governor Haslam in New York City two weeks ago for a small group of site selection consultants, where Haslam informed the group of the new law. Great Response to Workers' Compensation Briefing | More than 35 manufacturers and human resource managers attended the Tennessee Workers' Compensation "Legislative Changes: A Return to Sanity" briefing last Thursday at the General Morgan Inn. The event, presented by Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz, reviewed applicable statutes for human resource personnel and discussed recently enacted legislation that affects claims going forward.
