Invitations have gone out for the September Membership Breakfast scheduled for Tuesday, September 13, 7:30 a.m. at the General Morgan Inn and Conference Center. Sponsors of the breakfast are Laughlin Memorial Hospital, Mountain States Health Alliance and the Johnson City Medical Center. The cost of the breakfast is $3 with reservations, $8 without. Teacher Supply Depot A Success | | Forty-four teachers attended the summer opening of the Teacher Supply Depot Friday, July 29. Thanks to Laughlin Memorial Hospital for donating space for the Depot, Wal-Mart Distribution Center for its donation, and members of the Greene County Youth Council and Greeneville High School Volleyball Team for volunteering to assist the teachers. An estimated $4,000 in free school supplies were distributed. The depot will open again for all certified Greeneville and Greene County school teachers in January 2012. Summer Educator In-Service | | Education & Workforce Development hosted its annual summer industrial in-service tours for 42 local educators. Special thanks to BTL Industries and LMR Plastics, Wal-Mart Distribution Center and Packaging Services, Inc. for hosting the teachers who were treated to facility tours and meetings with facility and human resources managers. New Trails Brochure Coming Soon! | | Tourism's Trails Committee is completing its work on the new Greene County Trails brochure. It will include information on five hiking, five biking and five horseback riding trails in our area, as well as other suggested trails such as the Sunny Side Trail, the Civil War Bike Trail and more. The piece will be used to drive more traffic to the Trail's website, www.DiscoverMyGreeneCounty.com, when the Partnership's new website is complete. |

GLAMER Offers Great Prospects | | Tourism Director Tammy Kinser and Rose Webb from the Comfort Inn of Greeneville participated in a Group Leaders of America Chapter Meeting at the Lane Motor Museum in Nashville last Wednesday. More than 12 attractions/hotels showcased their venues to more than 35 bus groups and tour operators. GLAMER assists 20,000 travel planners that make arrangements for 4.5 million group travelers including seniors, church groups, retirement villages, senior organizations and many more. According to GLAMER, those that participate in these trips plan more than 6.4 million overnight stays. Tourism plans to attend more GLAMER-sponsored chapter meetings. |
