2011 Landair Ladies' Classic Gears Up |  |
The Landair Ladies' Classic teams have been announced by Tournament Chairman Ron Metcalfe and his committee. The teams that will be joining the five local ladies' high school teams will be Mt. Juliet High School, Mt. Juliet, TN; Bob Jones High School, Madison, AL; Seymour High School of Seymour, TN; Rockcastle County, Mt. Vernon, KY; Wilson Central, Lebanon, TN; Franklin County, Winchester, TN; Charlotte Christian High School, Charlotte, NC; CAK of Knoxville, and Cocke County, Science Hill and Morristown East. The tournament will be held December 27-30 at Hal Henard Gymnasium. |

Annual Golf 'Shoot-Out' This Thursday | |
The field remains open for the Greene County Partnership's 18th Annual Golf "Shoot-Out" scheduled for Thursday, August 4, with more than 100 golfers already signed up for the event. The cost per team is $600 ($150 per golfer) and includes carts, greens fees, lunch, dinner and beverages during play. Be sure and join the Partnership staff for this major fundraiser which will include numerous contests during the tournament, as well as great door prizes to be given away during dinner. Activity And Recruitment Update | |
The Partnership is working with seven local companies on expansion projects and anticipates making two announcements in the next six weeks. One project will add approximately 60 to 70 jobs and the other will add several hundred. The Partnership is also working to recruit a new company from Michigan |

 | Receipts And Revenues Increase In May | |
Tourism receipts from the hotel/motel tax for the month of May were up 65 percent from last year, which shows a direct correlation to the NAIA Women's Golf National Championships hosted here in May. The sales tax revenues were also slightly higher for May, proving that major sporting events have a positive impact on our community. |
 | Tourism Visits Welcome Centers | |
Tammy Kinser, director of Tourism, and Rose Webb of the Comfort Inn of Greeneville visited the I-81 and I-26 Welcome Centers to deliver goodies from our community as well as tourism related materials. The I-81 Welcome Center still leads the state in number of actual hotel reservations made and number of visitors while the I-26 Welcome Center continues to see increasing numbers of visitors. Tourism plans to visit other regional welcome centers in the near future and to host a Familiarization Tour that will include employees from the state, as well as I-81, I-26, Hartford and Jellico Welcome Centers. |

 | Leads/Downloads Continue To Increase From Ad In American Road Magazine | |
To date, more than 4,000 prospective visitors have requested information on Greeneville/Greene County from spring and summer ads in the magazine while 4,700 visitors have downloaded the Greeneville itinerary that is accessible from their website. More than 800 have clicked through when information on our community was added to their Twitter and Facebook pages. Considering such positive results, Tourism plans to continue advertising in this publication. |
