Excellent Turnout For Free Electronic Recycling Day Last Friday!

There was an excellent turnout for the Free Electronic Recycling Day last Friday.

According to Jennifer Reynolds, Keep Greene Beautiful director, approximately 60,000 pounds of electronic items were received from 180 households, 21 businesses and 1 church, as well as the Greene County Schools.

More Goodwill Directed Toward Victims Of The April Tornadoes

 *Citizens in the hardest hit areas lost everything they owned and are being forced to relocate and rebuild. To help residents stay in touch with those that they need toTornado Relief Ribbon communicate with during this transition period, CenturyLink has partnered with the South Central Ruritan Club to set up a high-speed Internet and phone center. This Communication Center is now open and will be maintained for an unlimited period of time based on tornado recovery needs.

 

Rockin Out for Neighbors in Need*Applebee's will be hosting a fundraiser for the storm victims on Saturday, June 11.  "Rocking Out for Neighbors in Need" will feature six bands from the Tri-Cities joining together for one cause.  The Bud Girls from Budweiser will also be in attendance.  The event will begin at 3 p.m. at their location at 2771 East Andrew Johnson Highway.  Admission is $7 per person and all proceeds will be donated to the American Red Cross.  For more information, call 423-636-1483.

 

Economic Development Update!

 In the past 30 days, the Partnership has been working with two new companies that are interested in locations in our community, as well as working on a major expansion of an existing industry that has recently been acquired by a group of investors from the Midwest. We hope to be announcing more details about these endeavors in the near future. Also on the economic development front, US
Nitrogen is still progressing! They will be filing for air permits in the next few weeks, an approval process that normally takes approximately 90 days, and will begin construction shortly after they receive approval of those permits.

Products, DTR, Andrew Johnson Bank, Greeneville Astros, State Farm Insurance/Lisa Crum, Greeneville Water Commission, Premium Waters, Coca-Cola Enterprises, Greene Coach Tours, and Hampton Inn of Greeneville.  The committee would also like to thank Link Hills Country Club, the host families and volunteers that made the tournament possible.  The Sports Council will once again host a Fall Preview this October 2-4 at Link Hills in preparation for the 2012 Championships that will take place May 22-25.
